I have a Snap On 1/2" ratchet that is skipping. Is there a repair kit? Do I just find any truck and ask? or do drivers get pissy about dealing with people that are not stop customers?

Alot of the drivers get pissy but if u walk on most likely they will take care of you. As long as its not a 40yr old ratchet and ur a 18 yr old kid. Just ask for his buisness card and maybe purchase something small. Or throw him a small tip and say thankyou. All the drivers ive had would help somebody out.

Go to snapon.com and find the customer support tab and send them an email or call them and they will send a kit out to you free of charge.

I got free ratchet repair kits from the online support. I sent a message via the snapon.com website. My account shows a history of a few big purchases, so that may have greased the wheels a little.

I have had nothing but positive experiences with Snap-On's online customer support. Usually just takes an email and they will respond and take good care of you.

I was told of one Snap On dealer that refused to fix a slipping ratchet 3 times. My father knows shop owner in Big Rapids,Mi that took care of the problem himself not calling Snap On's service. One of his employees had a slipping ratchet and the dealer whom is a **** said there was nothing wrong with it.This shop owner witnessed it happen, slipped 5 times giving his employee busted knuckles twice. Finally told this dealer to fix the ratchet or he was done stopping by.Decided to fix the ratchet and never happened again. This shop owner has had bad luck with Snap On,every dealer that came in including the current dealer have been dicks

I've heard similar stories about multiple tool companies. I would say it depends 100% on your attitude toward the customer service people. They have to deal with assholes and pissed off people all day long. Last week I needed a rebuild for an SK ratchet. I sent a nice short email (including all my info: phone #, address, etc) asking if parts were available for my old ratchet, they wrote back saying they were sending a rebuild to me. I'm not a large customer - just Joe Schmoe

It seems to be a foreign concept to many that you should be nice to customer service agents. It's not their fault it broke, and they sure as hell don't like being yelled at for it. The bottom line is, generally they want to help you. Treat them nicely, explain the problem, and make a reasonable demand as your solution.

For the record, I NEVER had a bad customer service experience. Sears, HF, Snap On, SK, gearwrench, Armstrong, etc I have never had a problem getting what I needed replaced or my problem solved!
