Everything has turned out great.
I have the same air compressor, just an older version and it has worked flawlessly since early 90's when I purchased it. I had it in a small closet vented to the outside similar to the way you have yours.

They are Mechanical Plastic Test Plugs. You can get them at your local big box store. Here's a link to HD for them.
