Here is yet another version of the spray can storage cabinets. Although I have not yet mounted mine on the wall, it's the same idea. I built two sets with doors that open away from each other. I also added some molding to the doors, magnetic catches, recessed hinges, a two-tone effect, and large pulls. I also used dadoes to mount the shelves.

I built this for items used frequently. Paint, and other products used less often go in a cabinet.

I use a large double door metal cabinet, floor standing. I try to only buy what i will use up pretty quick. I also like to keep the cans protected from things, like sparks/flames/etc. So having them in a cabinet is nice.

My flammable storage locker isn't real big enough

My solution is so simple I can't believe how well it works. I hate the wasted space I get when I put them in rows and I hate not being able to see everything there if I put them all on shelves. My solution is to put them wall to wall in my cabinet in an offset array. To use a can I just pull it out of the matrix. The other cans are essentially locked in place and stay where they are. Then I just slide the can back in. If I have lost the cap I write the color on the lip of the can.

Maybe not the best idea considering the sheer amount of spray cans needed... but definitely the most awesome idea! :eyecrazy:

I have the lowest budget solution, I use old beer 6-pack holders. Then put the holder on the shelf. The holders are short enough you can generally see the label enough, and I tend to put similar types together. No picture and none required.

I cut these on my plasma table. Uses 1/2" emt for the shelves. I got a stick at home depot for $1.84 a few days ago. This was my first version. Version 2 I changed to a little shorter so it holds standard cans better and less angle.

I used a self taping screw in the end to keep the emt from sliding out.
