spring clamp pliers?

Like most tools, DON'T buy cheap. I have a cheap pair and I HATE them. I don't use them because they split under the clamp.

The good ones work really well, but the cheap-o ones are aweful.

those work well, I have them, but the ratcheting design on the ratcheting Mayhew ones is way better

I have the Blue Point set from Snap-On. USA-made, and they make quick work of those despicable squeeze/spring clamps. The cable broke on them once after much use. My dealer replaced the cable under warranty, and I've had no trouble with the pliers since.

I don't know how much this will help, as these are ancient (I've had them for at least 35 years and they were old then...) Diamond KC-16's

Notched so you don't slip like std pliers, and for straight on, or nearly perpendicular to the clamp.

There have been times I could have used the cable activated pliers, but these are still 10X better than standard pliers..

The truck showed up an hour after my last set crapped out so I jumped and didn't worry about shopping around for a new set. These are not cheap but they work well.

I have a blackhawk version of these. They have a ring you slip down the handle to hold the clamp compressed. Makes installing and removing clamps a piece of cake.

No, but both the C'man and the Mayhew the Op lists in his orginal link are both pull and lock pliers and non-ratcheting.

Once you get into the ratcheting units, you are into the $75 to $105 range.
(The Astro's look like ratchting units or kopykats but i have not used them)

Well above the $39 C'man units for the good ratcheting pliers.

Yeah, I've found that a lot of the time when I can't get regular pliers on a clamp easily, I can't get this type on easily either. I've got the Blue Point version FWIW. Maybe one of the others is better.

If one wrenches for a living, ya need em. Cable and direct action, if you buy the OTC 2-pack and the Craftsman or Astro cables you're in it about $50. My favorite pair says Kobalt on it, though I don't think it's in their current lineup. Nicer action than OTC.

What I use. My Dad has the same set under Lisle, and a coworker of mine has the same set sold under Blue Point. Work great for me.

The last set I had were Astro-Pneumatics. They were a $5 pawnshop find and they lasted for years. When they screwed up it was the ratchet that went, not the cable.
