Can anyone give me direction on removing a section form the middle of the panel board? I have searched the internet and found very little on how the sections are removed. Any help is greatly appreciated.
it is 3 phase and I have to remove and replace a fusible switch. I assume that removing the 2 screws from each side of the switch will allow me to pull it forward. I am unsure as too how the switch attaches to each leg. I wish that calling a pro was an option but finding someone willing to service 3 phase in my area is impossible.
what voltage are u dealing with? If 480v, u need to be absolutely sure about the procedures you are doing, unless u can shut the power off to the panelboard first.
Those buckets if under 100amp are held on with at least four screws, 2-3 on each side of the bucket the thread into the vertical frame. The stabs to the buss are spring clip type. So once you have those screws removed it will pull straight off. Just make sure you have the panel completely de-energized please!
Will disconnecting the main power supply de-energize the transformers? there are 2 liquid transformer that step down from 480 3ph to 220 3ph and one that steps down form 480 3ph to 220 1 ph.
Well that's damn near impossible for us to say without seeing either the panel schedule or a single line diagram. But considering you said this panel is 480, then I'd say there's a real good chance this panel services those transformers.
But you say you have liquid filled transformers? That's not the norm. How old is this service and is this panel your only 480 panel.
