Hi!

The wheels from my bike are indeed mavic cosmic pro's, but aluminium :) . I need to order some custom wheel stickers for them.

Jyzze, that looks like a decent knife, cuts like butter ! :D I just purchased myself a gerber ez-out knive. I just need to buy something to sharpen my knives...

Hollidays are over, so back into the garage :p

Still welding on my bus,
I rebuild the steering box, and took the time to raise and shorten the steering box.

Steeringbox dismantled and cleaned and sandblasted the housing.

Raised the chassis section 4cm

Tig welded the 60year old chassis section

Notched the other side of the chassis for the steering box

_DSF0012_Fotor_zpsgexao9ph.jpg

Shortening the steering rod, after i welded this, i made a tube that fitted on the outside of the rod and welded it on, just for that extra peace of mind.
First plan was to turn it down on the lathe, thread it , ... but it didn't fit my lathe.

Looking good Toon!
That's quite a notch, must be quite a drop you're planning to do on the bus.

Thanks crown, nice avatar. Is that a t4 2L head?
I'am going to lower it, but not slam it. I just want a nice comfortable ride, but with al the speed bumps over here, the steering box can hit the ground with a stock bus coming of a speed bump :s

I had a visitor in the garage this week, '66 porsche, It needed a complete tune-up. Now it runs like a clock.
It fits nicely in my garage :D ... someday maybe....

Hello,

A few weeks ago my old high school teacher called me and told me that my old school was stopping with their car mechanic education ... and asked me if i was interested in their bosch injection pump test bench and tools.

I made a very good deal, and last week i went to pick it up.
Since i don't have the place in my garage, my father suggested to put it in his garage.

I rented a small truck with a loading platform, but the platform couldn't lift the test bench ... so i ended up loading it on a trailer with a forklift.

I also took this heavy steel table with some stands and tools

IMG_0040_Fotor_zpsol8leuik.jpg

Also 8 of these bosch tool boards were included, and are almost compete! :p

IMG_0041_Fotor_zps2hklmpqb.jpg

Now i need to clean and check everything, and also need to upgrade to 380v :s

I love the architecture of your house and garage - and the garden. The dormers are very cool! Please post some more pics of the house please and maybe some interiors.

The carport addition is also great. I can see the sun will hit the cars parked there sometimes during the day. However in Belgium the sun is probably not as harsh. If that was in Florida you would want to shield it from the sun more.

Perhaps my eyes are playing tricks with me but the one drawer looks crooked - top left?

Still an awesome bench and layout.

Re: The Stahlwille garage

Does the carport roof just pitch to one side slightly for drainage? Nice looking gutters

I'm curious as well how your carport roof handles drainage. How was the roof constructed/gutters integrated?

Thanks

Hello,

Sorry i missed the reactions on my own thread :s.

Quad : That could be right, because i screwed them firmly in their place when i had the front ready. Now they are all level

boulderz: The gutters are on the backside of the carport, and the hole roof pitches to the back slighty for good drainage. Perhaps its clearer in the previous pictures.

Christopher7390 : Thank you! Hazet and Stahlwille are pretty expensive over here, but sometimes you can do a deal with online promotions. But on the otherside, i don't think they are expensive. Good tools saves you money.
Like a wise man once said : Buy once, cry once :D

Hi Jyzze, the testbench and tools are stored at my fathers garage, and he allowed me to use them there. A friend needs to come over to see if he can convert it from 380v to 220v (4kw). And then i can see what's the problem.

Its been pretty bussy last weeks, turned 30 , repairing bikes, replaced the heater from my volvo 240 wagon, ....

Last week I made counter/desk in the garage with the leftovers from our carport.
Turned out good ( Since i don't love to work with wood).

_DSF0248_Fotor_zpsjsd1b1xg.jpg

What's going on behind the desk?

_DSF0253_Fotor_zpsyydru9fr.jpg

I also am building a heavy duty wheel truing stand. Still a (in between) work in proces ...

I am in awe of what you have done. I can't tell if you are a professional mechanic, engineer or just a very talented man :)

You have a great eye for things.

Hi

I would like to wish everybody happy christmas and the best wishes for next year!

Not a lot of updates in the garage, mostly repairing bikes for customers.

But i also build/ restored a couple for my own

A batavus flying dutchman, belonged to my uncle, who helped raising us when we were young. But died in an accident a few years ago.
He gave me his bike when i was 18, for going out in the weekends. So a lot of goog memories with this bike, so to me it made sence to put some money in this.

I took it completely apart, tig welded 2 cracks in the frame, straightened it. replaced al the bearings, polished the frame...
updated it with a nexus 8-speed hub, dynamo hub, b&m headlight, brooks seat, .....

so went from this

I am also verry happy with this purchase: '83 mongoose californian in mint condition. Previous owner imported it from the usa.

This will be my next personal bike project, '73 raleigh chopper for complete restoration.

And hoping to get some work done this week on my splitty.
I made the 3 belly pans removeable, and now i can start fitting and welding in the new cargo floor.

Thanks for watching,

Toon

Very cool bikes! I've always wanted one of those choppers- they're getting tough to find.

The batavus turned out great. Enjoy it!

The hand-me-down dutchman looks great. Very classy restoration work, and I'm sure you've disguised the cracks well, but how about before and after pictures of the big repair?

Did you give up on the headlight? or is that a later-refurbish/replace item? I can't see it a headlight in the "after" photo.

I never had a chopper as they're a little before my time, but it definitely looks like a fun project and a fun townie.

Thanks,

I only have a picture of 1 of the 2 large cracks that i welded.
I only cleaned the crack, because i wanted to preserve the og paint.
I tig welded the crack, but it wasn't easy because there is not enough room for placing my torch in a good angle. But I think it worked out ok.
Afther welding I grinded it with a file and painted it.

I removed the original headlamp and mounted a automatic büsch&müller headlamp with 80lux on the bracket of the original dynamo.

Hi guys,

Finally got some stuff done this week!
A few weeks ago my welding helmet gave up on me, so i needed to buy a new one. The new one has a verry big screen wich i really like, and a ton of features that i probably never going to need

So at the welding shop i saw a footpedal for my tig post, does some-one has a experience using one? And is it worth buying? I think it makes controlling the puddle much easier.

So with my new welding helmet, i finally welded in my cargo floor from my bus...

_DSF0478_zps5ndt2k00.jpg

I also took my chopper apart and sandblasted the frame.

Today i picked up a koga miyata frame 63cm with full shimano arabesque, tomorrow i'll take it apart.

What do you guys think? should i transfer the parts from my green bike ( and paint the mavic wheels blue?) ?

quick mok-up

IMG_2335_zpsl2rnsx65.jpg

the green bike, a bit to small for me

Hello,

Just finishing up my '83 koga super winner build.
First plan was to have it completely resprayed, but afther meticulously cleaning the bike, polishing and waxing it and a new decal set, i think it came out pretty good with the og paint.

Sprayed the ballhead, seatpost and the cosmic wheels to, and the shimano "arabesque" group is like new!
Still searching for a good saddle

_DSF0482_zpswrcpddyw.jpg

Afther 6 (!) month of waiting, i finally received my parktool bicycle clamp.
So now i started my "single post bicycle lift"

Have you thought about painting frames and trim parts for money? That's a really good looking bike.

This garage makes me want to do so many things in my garage. I love the VW hubcaps on the wall. Such a cool piece of art! Great job on the split window. I can't wait to see it done!

Thank you for the kind words!

This week i received my shop logo.
I wanted something simple & old-school, something that would look nice on my vw's.
I 'm very pleased with it, what do you guys think?

My single post bicycle lift is also finished, i had it painted and made a tool tray/tool holder next to it. It makes working on e-bikes so much easier.
