I have them as supplied by Lista. They were very good quality and I enjoy them still. THey are slowly getting a patina of wear, which is fine. I like them because they clean up very well, are a great surface for layout (as noted in another thread, you can mark them up with a sharpie, then wipe it off with thinner) and generally look great in the shop.

Here's a quick pic of some of the stainless surfaces in the Garagenous Zone:

Thanks for the response. Will Lista sell the countertops seperately? i already have my base cabinets.

If yes, did you buy direct from their website or somewhere else? How long was delivery?

Got your PM, but I figured I respond here.

You can order from a dealer. They have certain sizes that are standard. Custom sizes are also available. Wait is usually 4-6 weeks, IIRC.

What size are you looking for? Where are you located? I'm sure we could recommend a good dealer.

I am in Houston.

I am looking for a simple countertop. My base cabinets a 3 x 31 1/2 each and 20" deep with a taller cabinet adjacent to each side. I would like a single piece with a small back splash (4").

You will need custom sized tops as they don't come in those lengths/depths by default. Lista doesn't make SS backsplashes - I tried to get them to make me some, but my request fell on deaf ears.

Lista charges per square inch. Expect to pay around $0.25-$0.35 per square inch. I'm not sure what the list price is. When I got mine, I got prices from approx. 10 places... a majority of the prices were in the range above. Shipping not included.

1890sqin x $0.30 = $567

Your Regional Sales Manager is:
Paul Glisky
Phone: 281-257-1565
Fax: 713-513-5369
Email: [email protected]

Try him first... RSMs get the best prices. All dealers in the area place their orders through the RSMs (read: extra cut)

That doesn't seem too bad. The link I posted is $63.99 per sq. ft. for 24" deep tops which equates to about $.44 per sq. inch.

Still cheaper than using local kitchen countertop fabricators.

I didn't see the link. Don't forget shipping - that will run you maybe $100 or more.

You might want to try local kitchen places or SS fabricators, that way you can save on shipping. FYI, the ones I tried locally didn't want to be bothered making tops or their prices were way off the charts.

Good luck!

Yea, the kitchen pleaces I found on the internet locally want a $600 minimum.

I don't mind paying for a good a product and a decent delivery time (3-4 weeks).

I had my SS tops made in July, 2006, by a local welding/fabrication shop that does a lot of SS work for the food industry. The tops have a 6" backsplash and rest on 2 pieces of 3/4" plywood. Cost was $0.44 per sq. in. (freight included) plus the cost of the plywood. I didn't buy the Lista tops because I wanted approx. 1/8" thick and, if I remember correctly, Lista's are approx. 1/16".

1/8" would be really nice, but cost prohibitive for me (I have over 12k sqin). I don't understand why I was getting so much negative response from asking fabricators in the area. I guess they just don't want to be bothered.

Wardrum, you should post up your picts as I don't believe I've seen your setup before. :)

I got a quote from a local fabricator who did our kitchen hood a few years back. He seemed enthused about the garage, turns out he was a semi pro motocross rider once. However when I got his price I almost fell off the chair: over $2K for two 96x30 sections; without any backing, ie I still had to build a wood core for them.

I recently posted on what look like a good deal for stainless if a) you can use their stock sizes, and b) you are close enough to a drop point not to get killed on shipping. Check out www.globalindustrial.com and go the the workbench section.
