What lay-down type socket organizers are you using? The stand up type take up too much room especially with deep sockets.

Yup, but if you have shallow drawers, deepwells don't stand up (not if you want to close the drawer anyways)
A nice, big toolbox doesn't have that issue, but, work with what you got until you can afford better.

KM223, are those hansen trays you have? If so, how do your sockets fit on the pegs drive side down?
I'm with others, or I am missing something, standing them up takes up way less space than lying them down. I would need three drawers vs. my one if I laid they down.
What am I missing about the question?
Mike.
It's irrelevant to the ops question. The most efficient way to store sockets is vertically, not laying down. Op didn't say anything about drawer choice, only about space and orientation. Most of the replies seem to assume the drawers are sufficient depth for upright socket organizers.
