i wouldn't do too much over again, i always bought quality stuff for my electrical bag and my mechanic's toolkit started out small but stocked with fairly high quality old hand me downs and castoffs from my dad and grandparents. i was fortunate to have found this site before i _really_ went out and stocked my workshops :) now pretty much everything i've got is high quality, US or euro made stuff that i can be proud of and which will serve me for a lifetime. i was going thru it all separating the trash from the treasure and only came up with a tiny little box of stuff i really don't want anymore.

i guess the one thing i maybe would have done differently is to have gotten a hammer drill right off the bat, instead of skimping a little bit a few years ago and going for the straight up drill. but even that's not so bad, it doesn't hurt to have a few duty grades in drills.

As I only use 6pt sockets primarily at work, I would have bought the 3/8 and 1/2 drive Klutch brand impact socket set from Northern tool for $100, stick with the nice ratchets I have, and bought a good set of 1/4 drive sockets in chrome (Cman industrial, williams, SK). For the most part I have very few regrets, Ive gotten some crazy smokin deals, I can justify a "new" full priced tool every now and then.

Very happy with my Craftsman tools (admittedly most are over 30 years old) and my decision to only buy 6 point sockets (I have never really need a 12 point socket).

Things I have now that I should have bought a long time ago

  • Decent top and bottom tool boxes
  • Thin wall flip lug nut sockets

Having fun buying some odd ball tools, even if they are HF !

Not much i would do over. My tools havent let me down much. Always bought and still buy from the high end companys mac,matco,snap-on,cornwell,sk, few facom, few hazet, some craftsman, very few cheap tools only random stuff i dont use much. Only thing i would prob change is go snap-on for all my swivels.
