i wouldn't do too much over again, i always bought quality stuff for my electrical bag and my mechanic's toolkit started out small but stocked with fairly high quality old hand me downs and castoffs from my dad and grandparents. i was fortunate to have found this site before i _really_ went out and stocked my workshops
now pretty much everything i've got is high quality, US or euro made stuff that i can be proud of and which will serve me for a lifetime. i was going thru it all separating the trash from the treasure and only came up with a tiny little box of stuff i really don't want anymore.
i guess the one thing i maybe would have done differently is to have gotten a hammer drill right off the bat, instead of skimping a little bit a few years ago and going for the straight up drill. but even that's not so bad, it doesn't hurt to have a few duty grades in drills.
