started my Epoxy-Coat install today

the weather this week finally cooperated with no rain & decent temps, so i started the Epoxy-Coat install today. everything went well except for one small area that fish-eyed where something was deep in the slab & wouldn't clean up. not sure what it was as the floor was previously coated with u-coat-it, but no telling with the fire what may have occurred with that spot. the flakes tend to hide the spot pretty well & i'm pleased with the product. the floor looks great for a cracked up, beat to death 14 yr old slab that has been thru a fire (& very nearly a tornado last thurs. had one hit about a block over...) i'll start the clearcoat tomorrow...

does the clearcoat have to be backrolled twice like the color coat or is once enough? didn't know if that was just a proceedure for wetting the surface for the chips on the color coat or if it also needs to be done with the clear.

been waiting for a good sunny day to get some pics of the finished floor with the clearcoat added, but been cloudy for days.. i did get a couple pics tonight of my new tool cabinet & cart that shows the reflection. my dad told me today he keeps thinking something is leaking & theres water on the floor, but its just the glossy appearance:thumbup:

thanks guys! the chips are the standard version that come in the kit. they supplied plenty for my taste as i only used about 2 of the three bags supplied (3 kits). the cracks were filled with sikaflex self levelling sealer then sanded smooth using a belt sander with 120 grit belts. everyone that has seen it in person has been really impressed. the guy at the rental place where i rented the diamond grinder is going to do the floors in a bar/grille he's part owner of in Epoxy-coat after hearing how well it turned out. should be pretty cool as its located in an old 60's gas station.

Amazing!! I'm about to do the same with my 2 1/2 er. As soon as the drywall people are done, I can start the painting and then the floor. Can't wait!
