Seems a bit odd to not paper the finished floors to protect them from all the contractor foot traffic and any material spills.

Looks like they didn't grout the tile yet which is why it was left unprotected. That said, the tile is bullet proof unless they drop something that chips it. Common practice around here is the same. Paper goes down only after grout if at all.

Yea, Mesa is correct, they are still in the process of putting the floor down. I go on weekends when no one is there.

Counter tops and floors are done. Not sure I am a fan of the countertops, but my wife loves them. I really like the way the floors finished up.

Hopefully the next updates I have are of the garage being finished, not sure what is taking so long for the doors to show up.

Driveway and rear patio area was poured. They also poured the golf cart garage, but I don't think I took a picture.

The faucets were also installed.

Finally getting to the good part, the garage.

The lights were put in the garage. 10 dual 4-ft LED 5k lights. The fixtures and bulbs are from Bee's lighting that is under the "best light fixture ever" thread. Still need to get power run to the house before I can see how well they will light the area.

SB440 - it's great to see you document the whole process, I just saw this thread today and read through all of it. We're also looking to build a house (hopefully soon) and I'm very interested in your garage lighting choice to see you you like them. Our garage foot print is similar to yours - 33.5' x 27.25.' Ceiling will be sloping, starting at 10' from one side up to 12' across to the other (3 car garage, side-by-side).

Fluid, I will let you know, hope to have power run in the next 10 days or so. I think you will like the depth, mine was 25x35, but the inside depth is 23x33'10.

I really like your house build, I'm looking forward to seeing final pictures in a few weeks!

What are you using the 30amp/120v circuit for? Did I read correctly that your garage has almost 12ft ceilings, but no rebar in the slab?

Yes, that is correct. I was overseas when they poured the garage. I am thinking since it is 8" deep where I am putting the lift is should be fine. Otherwise I will have to cut out some parts and redo it with rebar, which would ****.

You mean the one in the center? That is supposed to be for a lift.

I think mfgs say 6"+ without rebar is ok but I wouldn't pour a parking pad without rebar. Cheap reduction to cracks.

You must mean 30a/240v then? I've never seen a 120v lift but I suppose they exist.

No, its a 30 amp 110v. The maxjax only requires the 110v.

And apparently golf balls will come to the house. That has to be the worst golfer ever or they drug it up when they were doing the grading.

Putting the finishing touches on the house. The garage finally got some love. The lights are on and I really love the bees lighting LED fixtures and bulbs. Also did some high lift doors and the liftmaster 8500's.

Well it has been a really busy time. I took leave from a Monday to a Friday, we didn't get to move in till that Friday. So I did not get as much done as I wanted. But we are getting there. Parents and my sister came down for Thanksgiving so that was nice. For the most part we are in, still need to do a fence and get everything organized in the bonus room, but not a big priority for me right now.

But I did get some of the garage situated. Still need to run the air lines and get the truck in the garage. Motor might not go back in right away as I want to remove the metal fender liners and get a scatter shield on the transmission.

Still love my Texas.

Really need to clear that table off, will be easy when the truck come back. Fuel lines and what not.

Still like to get my ride on

Truck stuff

20161207_185855_zpsbw4ovx62.jpg

The golf will be gone soon when VW gives me the go ahead to turn that **** in. Most everything on those shelves will be going back on the truck, Then I will get some regular cabinets and what not.

Oh nice, finally moved in. We've been talking to southlands fence as they've done a bunch of homes in our area. I'd be curious who end up choosing [emoji106]

We already have someone lined up actually. It is called Independence Fence, but just have him doing the gate and the poles, I will be doing the rest of it.

Well I have been busy with the house. We put up a fence (over 400 feet) right before Christmas. So that was fun.

15665680_1402656479758816_9109059547851154518_n_zpsqg22ezvn.jpg

Today though I put the airlines in that I had sitting on my table for a couple months. Still need to get the fittings for the blocks and the Air filter. Open to suggestions on what to use there. Not going all crazy, just something decent for a home garage. Not doing any painting or anything. Looks like everything is 1/2" NPT off the blocks.

If you still frequent here - thanks for documenting the process. Now that it's been 2 years, what have you learned that you'd change/add/do-different?

Hey,

I think the most important part was getting the right layout for the house. Also, taking into account where the sun hits the house because it is kind of dark even with giant windows everywhere. the overhangs on the front and rear porch block the sun.

I am also really glad I got the flooring I wanted first. I almost went carpet to save money, but the cost later would have been much higher. The tile is easy to keep clean with the dogs.

We finally started our house build and know that we're going to look back and what we could've done differently but that's just learning. We have a lot of glass also but have overhangs intentionally place to manage the AZ sun. Slab pours tomorrow.

Enjoy the ride, it is fun having everything go up. And if you can make the garage bigger go for it. To add 10 feet to the width only cost me 5k.
