I'm looking for input/recommendations on steam humidifiers for our 5500 square foot home. We have two heat pump HVAC systems (York brand) with one system (8 SEER) for the main level and full basement and one for the second level (16 SEER), both redone 5 years ago. Our master bedroom is on the main level, and the lower level is used sparingly, and the second level is used only when we have guests.
The house which was built in 1999 by the original owner just before energy efficiency seemed to become important to most people, so it wasn't sealed as well as would be expected today. While I'd like to be able to go back in time to see the construction done to make sure all the entry points for air infiltration were properly sealed, I don't think that's happening anytime soon.
So we've had two desktop ultrasound humidifiers to help get more humidity, and about the best we can get is around 27% humidity, and I'm getting tired
of having to constantly refill and clean. Can any HVAC techs recommend a whole house steam humidifier system? Thanks.
