Are you going to put wheels and a hitch on her?
Royce

It will have wheels. I have three sets that I have been collecting but they are not going to work. They are to small . I'm trying to get closer scale wise to this...

Just make sure it's not too tall that you can't get it out of the garage! Or you will have Mike a Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel story on your hands.

Please note: the government says 139 ft per second is acceptable for a falling elevator . But at 140 ft per second the governor must kick in .

I want out long before we hit that velocity!

Awesome work and design man!

Also Mike Mulligan was one of my favorite stories as a kid. I had forgotten all about it until the post above.

I needed to bend some metal so cobbled this small Press Brake from the scrap bin. I Did pay $4.00 for the springs. :drink:

No kidding Rivennhewn, anybody that don't like this, don't like nothing.

Jeeps,
What will you use for finish on the steel?
Your design is beyond awesome.
Royce

awesome, love smokers and the Steampunk look.
I always wanted to build a steampunk horizontal smoker.

Hey, hey, hey, neither of you guys should get any bright idears. You're both already over achievers. :spit:

Looking stellar Jeeps I can't wait to see this thing completed.

Jeeps, any updates??

Also I had a question for you. What size rivets did you use. I made the mistake of showing the wife your badass smoker and she's now got a project for me. Thanks!.

And nice A**hole, very unique as always :)

Not much done . Plan on working on it tomorrow.
The rivets are 3/8 for the bigger ones. I am also using 1/4" and 5/16 " , you can buy different lengths

Got sidetracked with a new garage toy I found on Craigslist that I couldn't pass up. All cleaned and reassembled . So back to work on the smoker.

What is the tank from? What are the dimensions

Its an old air tank 1/4" it appears to have been hydro formed with a single seem in the center. The size is 64" ×24" . Surprisingly very little rust inside considering it was manufactured in 1959.

I don't know what a steam engine governor is doing on a smoker but it looks cool and if it actually spins I want one.

That is absolutely a work of art [emoji439]. What are you going to mount it on? I'm sure the milk crate is not a permanent fixture :)

I have been on the lookout for some 24 inch metal farm implement wheels . But so far nothing that fits the bill. I will probably make my own.
