Thanks for the kind words. Knowledge needs to be shared. I'm semi retired now but I never worried about the competition. Quality sells its self. Now I have become more of a project consultant and manager.

I found this list I've been working off. I'm assuming the brokers buy buildings off the list of manufacturers.

You are missing the footings and piers.

Yup.

Those have WAY more rebar and install labor than many are aware.

Steel buildings, AFAIK, do NOT just have a 4" slab.

I would SWAG a steel building foundation would cost 2+X compared to pole barn slab same size.

We had a 60 x 80 x 16 Mueller put up some years ago by an experienced contractor.

I was amazed at how long the foundation took to prep for pouring.

Elmech, I'm not familiar with suppliers in that area. A lot of this business is regional because of transportation costs. Look for a local metal building contractor. They will supply and warranty the building and have unique local knowledge.

I'm on it. The contractors that provide turn key are very busy now as are the civil engineers etc they are giving "go away" prices.

Like in our case for the 60x 80 Mueller...

IIRC, the perimeter had footings or "Grade beams" maybe 18" x 24", and the 60 x 80 had simlar beams dividing the field at 20' squares.

All with a surprising amount of rebar.

This was in Rockport tx, hurricane country.

We did pretty much what readhead recommended here in Texas. In this area, metal buildings are the norm for accessory building. You can go from turn key, to buy the metal and erect yourself, and everything in between. We chose a local company that specializes in metal buildings to do it all. Happy we did.

Let me second that readhead is the go to guy on this subject - he has provided some great advice to many here at GJ.

We had talked to a couple of people that had similar metal buildings on their property for recommendations. I drew the basic elevations and floor plan and provided that for bids. All the bids were for a perfectly flat lot with minimal prep for the pour. The concrete sub came to our site and we discussed options and best course of action for our sloped lot. This prep work was an add-on to the original quote but was certainly reasonable. To make the building look a little less metal, we went with 4/12 roof, one foot roof overhang on three sides with a covered porch on the front side, and used corner trim color that matched the siding panels.
I need local turn key contractor recommendations near Dallas-Forth Worth, Texas. Can you help?
