Re - The Sutton Shop
Looking at the original thread, it feels like I've made NO progress
So far, the wiring is mostly complete and all the materials are purchased to put the floor in.
Right now though, it's time to finish the exterior.
Disclaimer - This is my first time doing siding, of any kind.
I've bought corrugated steel siding for the shop. The strapping is pretty much done.
I've the boxed ends of the eaves to build yet, then I will start installing all the trims. I have J's, double J's, corners, drip caps, etc...
and.. I have questions.
I installed J trim around the window and doors. I measured things out and realized that when the siding gets to one of these openings, it could be the raised part of the panel OR the flat part that goes into the J trim. If flat, there is a large gap.
Q1 - do I just leave it open? Do I need to buy another trim to close the gap?
Q2 - I thought the drip cap should extend past the openings.. but then how does the siding pass (ps - vertical install)? Do I cut a slot through the cap to pass the siding?
I think I'm wrong, and the cap will need to be the same size as the opening...
I hope the attached pictures help!
(edit - just realized I had French names there - Plat = Flat and Bosse = Ridge. Sorry 'bout that)
