I was noticing while working in the near zero temps that the handle to my hammer was really slick. Between cold gloves (mechanics style) cold hammer and many hours of use (worn grip) it is just hard to hold onto with any dexterity. Now there was some stuff football players used to use called stick 'em and I was wondering is there is something similar still available or what people use to keep handles somewhat grippy.
I was thinking hairspray or rosin on the handle and my dad's first thought was to use hockey tape on them. I may get a new hammer at some point but I am not going to throw away the otherwise perfectly good ones I have.
So what are the old tips?
