I will jump in on this one. Stihl saws are over priced by far. Same for Husqvarna. Echo saws are all metal construction, have a much better anti-vibration, are not the so called X torque. If you had run an Echo you would more than likely switch. The bars and chains for Echo are made buy Oregon. Stihl chains are OK but way over priced. I purchase Arbor Pro made buy Carlton. Same chain but one third the cost from Baileys. I now have three Echo saws. My most recent are the 550P, and the 590 Timber Wolf. Wonderful saws and at a great price. This one is the 590
Funny how times changed...yet remain the same...

Many moons ago when Husqvarna and Stihl ruled the world along came Echo. Better saw, cheaper, blah blah blah....they focused first on the small engine repair facility. Become an Echo dealer and you win a prize. Kinda...right? LOL

Echo was waiting for the big break and they got it. Sold their soul to the box store...

End of rant.

The above said I've never heard anything bad about Echo. On the contrary...it seems all feedback is positive.

Not that it will matter to most but a Stihl will always have a much better resale value than a Husky.
I disagree with that.
Trimmers, saws, blowers etc...
Husqvarna has every bit the reputation and resale as Stihl.

My personal experience was quite the opposite. Trying to sell both used good pieces my Husqvarna stuff sold rapidly. In days.
My Stihl stuff was a bit of a wait.

I have a MS170 that is like a swiss army knife of chainsaws. Love that thing. I havent ran any bigger saws for any amount of time to really give a good opinion. My dad swears by them for firewood and camp/farm upkeep. He runs 461, 362, and 500i….. The stihl 2 n 1 sharpener is good for somebody like me that doesnt have the patience to file rakers. The 170 ive sunk into stuff i prolly shouldn’t have. Made it out every time. Count me for Stihl

I have a Stihl 025, 290, and a pair of 026s. In addition a Shindaiwa that runs rings around any saw I've ever used. In the past I've had a couple of Huskys but the maintenance drove me nuts. The 025 and 290 are good reliable saws but the 026s are just outstanding. They will run all day, day after day with just a dusting off and ready to go again. The Shindaiwa runs at a much higher chain speed and for short jobs it is the nazz. You can keep the Huskys. Still, they are good saws, unlike the damn Poulan.
I agree with those who like the Stihl sharpening tool. I was never very good at leveling the safety bars. This tool saves time and gets great results.

I have a 039 and an MS361. Used to have the classic Stihl Contra and the 040 av. Didn't ever really had a serious failure except for replacing the fuel line on the 039 a few times as it cracks. That saw is about 30 years old, and the 361 about 10 years old. For something that lasts so long, I am prepared to pay 200-300€ more for the brand. Also, you can get new parts for practically any stihl model ever made, and very easily for anything since the 80's (at least here in Europe). No other brand has the same part availability as stihl.

Husqvarna must have stepped up their game because back when I got my 240 I had to have the carb tuned before I could even start it for the first time. I was told this was a known issues. It have been a great saw since but pretty annoying that a brand new saw needed work to work right out of the gate.
Tuned as in taken apart and reassembled, or simply adjusted?

I sold saws and serviced saws for a few years. None of them came very well adjusted and when I sold a saw it was gassed up, carb adjusted and it made a couple cuts before it went out the door.

Had some bad storms roll through and took out a big tree at my wife's grandmother's house. Got to put my little husky 240 through a workout. It did well but it was really starting to get bogged down towards the end with the bigger stuff which was to be expected. My BIL has access to bigger saws so we will come back to get the rest and drop the other trunk of the tree.71245304594__E00235D5-2609-48E6-8ABD-8287703880B5.jpg71245386185__30D9CFE3-075E-44C2-9E9C-73EB67A9893E.jpg71245857042__9118B5FB-1E02-4652-9F20-8DACA9ACF919.jpg
