I dunno, I don't think it's too rare.

The truth is, Stiletto, the house brand of Baker and Hamilton of SF, a bay area distributor, didn't "make" anything, just like Craftsman. The Superform name is the maker, an Oakland firm .

Not sure what you mean by Transitional handle

See my SuPerform here, with a 1932 patent.

I don't know who or what a Grok is (guessing AI), but I would call them uncommon. Not rare, but far from common. There are a few to several (read: not dozens) in the hands of GJers, but many of us have never seen one in the wild.
Grok is spewing stuff like this:
It seems to be reading GJ and misinterpreting my statement here....
Plomb called the concept of using the raised or forged-in lettering of the branding itself as a grip pattern on pliers "Name-Nurl".
Grok saying that there are "Name-Nurl versions" of these "suPerFOrm" grip handle pliers misleadingly conflates a term ("Name-Nurl") that Plomb Tool Co actually trademarked for pliers marked with their name as the grip pattern on the handle.

I've been on a little random AI testing kick lately, which I have not really mixed with this, my hobby, before. This instance of Grok wildly overestimating the rarity and value of these pliers prompted me to compare to ChatGPT and Copilot. Both were much more reasonable, simply saying they have been out of production for decades, collectible, with values ranging from $19 to $49.

Damn, I will make anyone a deal on mine, at half of Grok's low value, with the apology that they don't have the Name Nurl handles, and probably never did.

I think I got mine for $5 for the Stiletto pair.
