Stripping paint from a floor

Has anyone ever used the floor buffer with the carbide blade attachment to strip paint off of concrete? I checked at SunBelt rentals and they have one that rents for $70 a day. He seems to think that a basic 24'x24' garage could be stripped using it it about a half a day.

So I'm curious if anyone has used one and what the results were. For some reason I just can't believe the guys renting it out when they more or less tells you it is the best thing since sliced bread.

Prices are all over the place for these machines. There are a lot of different models, some are real old and have been paid for many times over, there are vast regional differences, it's just tough to get a handle on rental prices.

Here in SoCal a shot blaster can be rented for $200/day, and a single head grinder can be found for $100. Sometimes the media is included, most often not. Where are you at?

So you really need to call around, also ask if there are any weekend specials.

I didn't know that Sunbelt had a website so I checked on renting a shotblaster $420/day. Ouch!!!! A little more than I wanted to go fro stripping some paint right at the moment. I did look at the link above to the other thread ( I didn't know there was one as I searched) and it looks like the carbide does a decent job of removing paint. So I may just go that route for right now until I get some better funds for a decent floor.
