Stubby keys (torx and hex)

Stubby torx keys.

Anyone know of similar keys available in the U.S.?

amazon carries Whia torx keys both in long and short versions.

Both Bonhaus and snap on make these also, I have both and work great, Snap on also makes a ball end torx set too!

PB Swiss makes very nice stubby hex keys but I don't think they make stubby torx keys.

The Wiha look fabulous, I would hold out for those.

For the hex I have both the brightguard and the regular black and I've grown fond of the bright. They wipe down easy and resist rust/corrosion well

I use the bondhus stubby allen wrenches everyday at work. Metric and SAE. I have the black oxide ones and a few guys have the bright ones. Both work just as well as the other.

But apparently not stubby. At least I haven't been able to find them.

Actually they do, but the largest is T25 One that I could use often is a T27

those are really nice

I could get them in NZ but I'll have to convince myself that they are $200 nice.
(and I'll have to figure out the additional cost of the high security display case).

I have the bondhus stubby sets in bright and I am very please they were my first set of decent hex keys. The Stubby is super handy. I have sets of reg snap on keys and folders that I barely use but they each have their purpose...

If I could only have one set bondhus stubby are the best of both world.
Low profile, Extra long, with a ball end. It really covers most situations.

T27 for Stihl?

Not that I can think of. Does Stihl equipment ever need to be worked on?
(Other than changing a blade/chain or cleaning an air filter. The tools that came with my saws work fine for those tasks).

^^^ I concur I have 6 Stihl saws and that are used constantly and very rarely do I need to take them apart for any reason other than to blow the dust out of them.

Leafless is right bars and chains, fresh gas and quality oil a clean plug and filter. Store em dry and they will run forever, well a really long time .....

The Bondhus hex stubbies are awesome, but I don't know if they make them in Torx. You might have to go with Wiha for the Torx.

Maybe some older saws, but not anymore I can change the filter on everyone with no tools whatsoever... if you can’t fix it with the bar tool you’ve got big problems

'The bar tool' is a scrench which depending on what type may have both 3/4'&1/2" nut drivers and on the other end either a flat head, T-20, T-25, or T-27. The pro grade tools usually allow access to air filter by hand or possibly clips that need a flat head or 1/2 turn locking nuts that need a flat head. Generally its the homeowner saws that require torx to remove shrouds. But in any case if your cutting wood a scrench and basic tools come in handy to tighen/remove bar nuts, adjust chain tension and dry a flooded spark plug. As for a stubby torx, a cheap trick I did was order a pair of acetate stubby screwdrivers from China on eBay, the red and green ones that have 1/4" bits in them and remove the bit and put wiha T-27 bits back in. Only cost like $1 for a pair delivered and there good.

Actually the T27 application I'm think of is on Harley Davidson motorcycles. I have to remove the floor board to get to 1 (of the 5 screws) that hold a cover to change the oil or adjust the clutch. The floor board bracket aligns perfectly with that screw.

You actually change the oil on a Harley...I thought the way it worked was if no oil is leaking on the floor, you know its out of oil & needs topping up.

I wish the whole TORX series would go away they are such a pain and the tips break regardless of brand.

Like the worst design on earth but it sure generates a LOT of business from tool vendors.

You actually change the oil on a Harley...I thought the way it worked was if no oil is leaking on the floor, you know its out of oil & needs topping up.

That's why they have is a large cover with 5 screws.... to add oil.

I've a set of stainless stubby hex from Wera. Have not had them long.
Tho i think they only offer metric hex on stubby.

Doesnt Bondus MAKE snap-on Keys? they come in the same exact holder

Elora has a set of ball Torx keys that work well. I bought them from Amazon I think. I think they are made by a company called HaFu. Based on the holder design I think they also supply Hazet and VBW.

I really like and recommend Bondhus double-ball stubby hex keys, too. They demoted a Stahlwille set to the lending drawer.
