Stuck Quick Disconnect

I figure y'all can easily answer this question. I'm planning on running a couple additional air lines and have a couple steel Lincoln quick disconnect fittings. Problem is one is stuck - the part that should slide back to disconnect doesn't move. Since I don't know what is inside I'm not sure if I should try soaking it in PB or something similar. I also don't know if it would come apart easily to clean it up or???

Thank you

Usually its just 3 ballbearings that have part of the sphere that sticks out of a hole and locks the groove on the plug. The outer shell has a tapered conical section "a ramp" that hold the ball bearings in engagement.

To help release it you could soak it, tap gently on the plug fitting, or tap gently on the outer shell in the direction of release.

The seal is usually a set of o-rings,

To keep your project going, I'd just order another one.

There's also a coil spring. I've found that rust from the spring and bearings can cause the bearings to get stuck even in brass bodied QDs. A shot of penetrating oil usually clears it up well enough that I can take it apart and clean, but lately I've been moving over to safety button release versions that like silicone grease.

Spray it with WD-40. If that doesn't work, lay it on the floor and give it a kick with the bottom of your shoe the right direction to uncouple it.

Thank guys. I have is soaking in PB for the moment so we'll see what happens. I'll try the drop kick if that doesn't work. :)

Well I took it apart to see what was up. Interesting part was it doesn't have typical round ball bearings like the others I have.

But it became an autopsy - warning graphic picture attached. Someone seems to have over tightened it. Look at lower left of the pic. So now I have a few spare parts.
