Taps are something I only buy from McMaster-Carr. They sell quality products and the pain of a cheap tap far exceeds the gain from saving $10.

I think it was the part that turns the tap that crapped out. It was very worn now that I look back....
I read that the turning part was him, the OP. Reread it in that light, see what you think. How does a tap handle **** out? Did it twist in two? Break in half? That statement makes no sense whatsoever
How does it make no sense whatsoever? You are reaching now. Can a handle not wear out to the point where it no longer turns consistently and/or effectively? Have you not ever seen a 12 point socket not be able to do it's job pushing you over to a 6 point socket? The Amazon handle I linked to it above was more than sufficient to turn the tap correctly whereas the pictured one could no longer do so.How does a tap handle **** out? Did it twist in two? No, see post 87. Well, I kind of tapped out too.I read that the turning part was him, the OP. Reread it in that light, see what you think.
So the tap was spinning in the tap holder? That's not what you said in the beginning. How does it make no sense whatsoever? You are reaching now. Here are pics of the wear on the tap handle. Pictures do no justice at times but the left side of the square is actually rather worn. This set must be 15 years old.
.Anyways it all worked out.
