Hello fellow members, I would like to get some suggestions on what direction to go with air conditioning and heating for a new metal building. I would also love to hear what you are using and how it's working out for you.

About a year and a half ago I built a 30x48x12 Metal building. I sectioned it off in a manner of a shop 24x24 on one end and on the other end I used it for a photo studio.

I left the rafters exposed and insulated along the roof line with 2" polyiso insulation. I also used this insulation in the walls. I was heating and cooling 864sqf at the end of the day.

I chose to go with a 18k BTU 16 SEER MrCool DIY Ductless Heat Pump Split System - Wall Mounted here is a link to what I bought LINK

I am in North Carolina about 60 miles from the coast. The issue I had with the other building was in the middle of summer when the humidity kicked in and the air temperature was 90 and above, it just would not cool it. In the winter when it stayed around freezing to say 45 degrees it would not stay warm.

I sold that property and have bought another house and I am doing another 30x48x12 metal building. I want to have the ability to heat and cool better than I did before.

Please share your experiences and opinions that might help me going forward.

I'd say something closer to a 2.5t would be better for that amount of space.
2t might do it but I think that might be pushing 5he limits, especially without much insulation.

I was not sizing the unit for the OP. I just attached the link to the discussion about forced air heat and cool in a metal building.

Personally in the Carolina's, I'm thinking 3T-4T minimum unless it is 100% spray foamed 6" thick.

I was talking about original poster,he said his new building was around same size.
