I have a sun master distributor tester, and was wondering if anybody has a manual or wiring diagram for them. I want to restore mine. Mine takes a six volt battery and looks like two other baterries on the face of the unit. Says model number is MDT, about 1956.

Thanks Terry

Check with these guys: http://paramountd.com/

Looks like he may have some literature as well (listed under Parts for Sale):

Instruction Manuals - $25.00 each Model 504/404Model 500/400Model 600

These are brand new manuals for Sun distributor tester machines. Three different manuals covering models 504/404, 500/400 or 600. They are 16-page instruction manuals used when testing distributors. I had a local printer reproduce the original Sun manual. It is NOT a cheap copy of a copy! The cover has the same heavy paper stock as the original. Nice bright white pages. Replace your old, dirty dog-eared manual with a sharp new one. You can use these instruction manuals with any Sun tester as they are mostly the same hook-ups and have very similar features.

I was going to send Mark at Paramountd (link above) my unit for a rebuild but he convinced me that I could fix it myself, sent me everything I needed, lots of little electronic parts and clear instructions, fixed it myself with his help. Saved me at least $300 from sending it. I documented the entire process with pictures and you can find it with Google.

There are PDF's out there of the manuals and wiring diagrams, I found them online with a google search but I only grabbed the ones for my model.

With a multimeter you can fix it. I have done it. Mark is a good guy, and the other guy is Robert Masters http://www.distributortester.com/about.asp Both will hook you up with what you need.

I repaired my 506. I had a bad diode, replaced some capacitors, and had a burned out bulb that I replaced with one from radio shack, and I made it work. Where there is a will their is a way! The wiring diagrams are needed. Mark offers a bulb testing service to see if that is the problem.

Battery Trays;

Still haven't located them but when I do it looks like strombecker asked first and then Fullraceflathead - I'll attempt to contact in that order.

Fullraceflathead - I sent you a PM.
