Man, there is just something about a nice no-skip set of sockets or wrenches that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

Sorry, no experience with that set. They sure look nice.

Can you step up to the Tekton set? They've got the nicer 30° / 60° wrenches.

The sunex would be fine though.
That's an excellent idea -- I think the other ends of those Sunex wrenches are just plain old straight open ends. The Tektons would give you a different angle at each end.

Made in USA, too, and available up to 32mm.

I'm pretty sure they're 15° / 90°, so yeah. That's what all the cheap angles have been forever. Snappy were the only game in town for a long time with the 30 / 60.

I bought a used snappy set off here, or I'd have the Tektons myself.

I have a similar cheap set of the older import Tektons that were $45 (long before they started making their 30/60 US wrenches) The import sets work, I upgraded eventually to Cat (Snap On at a third of the cost) for the angles. I hit the cheap ones with hammers to shock fittings loose, heavily cut and ground down a few, and they’ve done extremely well no matter how tight the fitting was.

Now the caveat is that I exclusively use them on hydraulic and AC line fittings. How the cheap ones would do with bolts and whether they would spread or not would be a question I couldn’t answer.

I have read through the amazon reviews and people say buy the Tekton in the sunex reviews and people say the Tekton hold up next to cat/snap on in the Tekton reviews.

Go with the Tektons, they're 30/60 degree wrenches, instead of the Sunex, which are 15/60. You already have 15 degree on a normal combo wrench.

I have the Sunex and will someday be replacing them with the Tektons because of the angle.

As for the wrench themselves they are fine, but having that 15* instead of 30* on the other end will drive you insane

I misspoke - my Tektons are 15 on the other side. Also, they're very thin...

They must have switched them up recently? Either way used the 9/16 and 1/2 today. Workable but don't hold a candle to my SO ones.

Maybe old MIT era Tekton? The new USA wrenches they released are 30 / 60.

The new (er) Tektons are 30/ 60 . When I was shopping for them the Tekton's and Snap On's were the only 30 / 60 I could find. The V8 , Capri and every other brand were 15/60. Maybe others have changed to 30/60 but before buying I would check thoroughly as to the angle.

Everyone screaming Tekton have you actually held one in your hands? I bought one just to confirm my suspicions they are as uncomfortable to hold as they look in the pictures. We'll see what I think about it after a couple uses.

I have a set of williams 15/60 angle wrenches and the fit and finish is what you would expect from a cheap wrench even though they are made in USA.

Any hydraulic wrench worth a damn is uncomfortable to use. It they are thick enough to be comfortable they are not going to fit in around hydraulic lines. Typically not much torque is applied anyways during 95 percent of their use

Ok ok... but are they made in the USA 🇺🇸
:rocker:

Nope. Capri are Taiwan made. Made in USA is very important to me, but in this particular instance I chose Capri over Tekton due to being forged vs laser cut. And the Capri have served me well everyday despite. I haven’t even brought up that the Capri have the same exact “knuckle saver” tech ends as Mac wrenches feature.

There's almost no edge break on the tekton angle wrenches to the point the edges are almost sharp. The William's are comfortable, just have need some more deburring/ edge break on the open ends, the open end edges are sharp. The snapon angle wrenches aren't bad though aren't as comfortable as the William's. It is possible to have a comfortable thin wrench, the Tekton are not.

Would I have recommended them if they weren’t? Spend 5 seconds to educate yourself before embarrassing yourself.
You just might......I have seen plenty of recommendations on GJ that aren't in the parameters a person asks for or are completely wrong, so you could be just adding to the list.

As for embarrassing myself....what does that supposed to mean?

Checked a few manufacturers websites ..................................... looks like Capri, V8, have gone to 30 / 60. Sunex still 15 / 60.

Others ?

Good to see more options. Just make sure not to get old stock.

One thing I don't like about Capri is that it seems they have some supply chain issues. When you go to their site, what they have available definitely fluctuates quite a bit.

I'm not sure when they changed. I probably got mine 5 or more years ago per this forum's advice. I had heard they started making them domestically, and checked out their webpage on it yesterday. Very nice. I also like all the set options...my SO only go up to 1" :D

I have the Tekton made-in-USA angle wrenches, and find them quite comfortable.

I really like the beam design, and kinda wish they'd come out with similar design combo wrenches.

I bought a metric set of Tekton not quite a year ago now, 18 pc in all (sizes from 8mm - 30mm) and I really like them and highly recommend them.

Yes, they are laser cut instead of forged and don't have as soft soft a radius as many other wrenches, but they are nowhere near as squared-handled as the Protos we have at work. I can't even begin to go into gorilla reap mode using them without a rag as they hurt waaaaaay too much but the Tektons feel pretty comfortable to my hands. Made in USA was a strong deciding factor too.

When I bought the Tektons I didn't have any plans to replace the SAE set of Armstrong wrenches that I've been beating up (and managing to lose some) for going on 30 years now, but the 30°/60° is sooooo much more useful in really tight spaces than the 15°/60° that an SAE set of Tekton's is definitely on my short list. It's insane to me how big of a difference that 30°/60° makes.

I have the V8's. They are 30/60. That is the only reason I own them, and I have had them for quite a few years.
