Sunex warranty experience

I managed to bust a Sunex impact pipe plug socket.

Looked at their website to see how to get a replacement.

They have an online form requesting a part number, proof of purchase, and a photo of the broken part which I fill out late at night.

Next day I get a confirmation that they will replace it at no charge.

Day after that I get a FedEx tracking number followed a couple days later with the new socket.

Simple and painless

The socket itself I'm not so thrilled with. Pipe plugs have special problems. The head is smaller than the threads and there is a taper so they wedge in. They are often rusted in. The plugs are made of relatively soft metal so they can deform and put odd stresses on the socket. The socket walls are kind of thin at the square corners which are sharp stress risers. I think these would benefit from thicker walls. I don't think this issue would carry over to their hex sockets.

I have not had one break myself but always good to hear great service stories.

How does the warranty work if you don't have proof of purchase? i bought the 3/8 master impact set (deep, shallow, metric, standard, flex, torx, e-torx) about 3 years ago new from a seller on ebay. Fast forward 3 years of daily use in a heavy truck shop and i now have some broken torx sockets and a few of the more commonly used flex sockets have that really hard spot in their rotation that pin style flex sockets get right before they snap and send the pin into wonderland so i'm sure i'm going to need to warranty those in the near future, just don't know what to do.

Not trying to start an argument but if it were me those tools would owe me nothing and i'd just buy some open stock and replace them. Places like Tooltopia carry most individuals and they're $3-$10 (torx and hex sockets on the low side swivels being on the higher side).

I would think your receipt from eBay would be reasonably easy to find if you go back in your email and would be accepted as proof of purchase.

Good idea on the email history, i only looked on my ebay and they seem to delete your history after 90 days. The only **** part about my email is i'm going to be digging for a long time, the last time i checked i had over 12,000 unread emails.... that's the problem with every online thing you're involved with sending you notifications daily... :lol_hitti

Search feature is your friend. Saves my *** every day.

Good to hear as I have broken a Proto 1/4dr 10mm 12pt impact swivel and they basically told me there is no warranty. The socket looks brand new and I had used it maybe 3 times. I switched to sunex in hopes of better luck.
