After seeing the post with the high end garages fit for a king, how about your garages/shops, just the way they are, no tidying up for a picture, but just how you left it last. Some may be dirty, some may be just used for parking, don't matter, my shop isn't exactly clean, somewhat small for my needs thus it seems cluttered. Let's see your space in it's natural condition.

I'd need to see the results of a white glove test on that ladder before any awards go out.

The funny thing for me is that I've been procrastinating cleaning my garage by surfing GJ. I guess this is my wake up call...

DO whatever you want to do to finish it NOW, before you fill it up. It is about fifty times harder after you get your stuff in there. Ask me how I know...

Rick...3rd pic...by the fan...I think I see some exposed floor. You need to put something there to balance things out a bit, it looks a little odd like that. :D

The mess expands and contracts as I work on the cars.

DSC00705.jpg

Some of the mess gets hidden upstairs (the garage wing has a separate storage area from the main house)

Lots of shallow cabinets helps.

SouthWall.jpg

most of the wall is cabinet space 8 inch deep and 10 inch deep.

SouthWall2.jpg

The back wall has upper and lower kitchen cabinets (cheap ones) and pre-fab countertop.

Break time with TV, 400 CD Changer for the surround sound system and that thing under the TV is an ice maker.

not the garagmahal's some have but this is mine and how it is kept. I am one of the over organized people but it allows me to get more in a small space, the compressor is up above and out of the way which helps alot.

Ok ok.... put up or shut up right?

I just took this this morning. Its not too bad honestly, but I am on my way to pick up 6 sticks of 1 inch sqaure tubing for a projct in a few minutes, so it will be much worse by this afternoon.

DSCN1414.jpg

Its been a whole lot worse, but its been a little better too. The good thing (atleast in my mind) is with such a small space, it kind of forces me to be as neat as possible!

Yours is a perfect example of what I expected to see, I am amazed at what people can build and accomplish in small spaces. I started out with no garage growing up, then we moved into a house with a two stall, mom had one I had the other, I had to keep the mess on my side of the garage. I built many engines and transmissions on my 1/2 it was crowded, but I managed.

Great. Why do these inspections always happen when my pants are down? Snapped a picture of this yesterday before our weekend work began. It's a total mess in there right now, but for a good reason... I think.

When I do get it sorted I am going to have to figure out the best way to fix the floor.

Well, this thread is why I joined GJ: to put a boot in my A-- and get something done with my shop. I can't say that i get to use my garage/shop the way I want to yet, but at least when i bought the property, this 30x40 already existed. The funny thing is, how many code violations can you find? (and how many personal fouls need to be called on me!!) All is fair when you are criticized by friends!! BTW, let me know if the pictures don't show.

Yeah, I have some junk on the floor but not much. I try to keep things clean. This weekend I am putting in a new exhaust system, so it will get a little dirty due to that. I will probably clean before I begin as I like things tidy while I work.

Here's my new garage. I just bought the house and moved in a couple weeks ago - hence the racks of boxes in the back. The garage needs some work - all the sill boards should be replaced, I'll need to make new garage doors, needs electrical, needs sheetrocked, etc etc etc but the important thing is that it's actually here. I live in the Portland inner city and regulations are such here that it's basically impossible to build a new garage, let alone a 3-car sited right on the property line! anyway the pics:

That method for storing the plastic sawhorses is brilliant!!! consider that idea stolen!

Very nice James and your right I really need to go through and reorganise mine again our garages are pretty close to the same size but I think I have enough **** in mine for another 2 car garage :D. I really need to do my addition and make the area in my pictures mostly a woodworking area which would help with some of the mess of course actually mounting the TV on the wall instead of letting it sit on one of the workbenches wouldnt hurt either.
