Thanks Mr Gearhead! It took more than 5 minutes About 2 weeks, I worked at evenings and weekends. Biggest task was the cleaning work inside the cabin, the dust was everywhere and didn't come off with a shopvac. I had to use hot water, soap and elbow grease

Thanks Mr Bob! It sure is a big difference to hop in. I adjusted the doors and fixed some broken door seals. No more diesel smoke in the cabin And did you noticed the new cupholders

I'm not doing any farming, just plowing snow and lifting machinery and other heavy stuff like firewood.

Now when the cab is clean I wear my finest Hawaii shirt when I go to work

I bought this tractor five years ago to help around my construction stuff. I use to do a lot of lifting by hand when I was working full day.

I did some upgrading with the lights and other small stuff.

There was some water in the lights and this nice looking micro forest

I installed some led lights on the original bezels.

Made a roof rack for lights and a beacon. I replaced the work lights with led lights.

Now I can see in the dark Finish winters

Good old John have saved me a lot of lifting and climbing up and down on the ladders
My latest building I did alone was this 120x40ft warehouse. John helped me a lot.

It was a closed micro-environment so no harm was done

Yes the day is pretty short here too but soon it's turning towards light again

Not any special celebration for the Solstice around here but usually it's my birthday. So an extra cup of coffee has been drunk

Okay, so I wasn't going crazy. All this talk about the Solstice and I'm sitting here thinking "Isn't that still a few weeks away?"

I pay close attention to that date because the legal shooting hours for deer hunting in my state are setup to reference sunrise and sunset. Once the days start getting longer, I start to get a little more time to hunt each day. I know it sounds trivial, but a fair number of the deer I've taken were shot in the first or last minute of the day.

Great work on the tractor! John Deere is near and dear to my heart - one of their larger production plants was near where I grew up and a lot of my friend's Dads worked for them. Deere is also one of the larger customers of the company I work for, and a lot number of my college buddies work for them as well.

Tapio, my family has a few members like you. Liane's birthday is the 18th and one of my great grandson's is on the 27th. I make sure they get a present for their birthday and the card has no holiday stuff on it.

More important, my 1972 Corvette left the assembly line on 23.12.1971. I give it a hug every year but Liane gets jealous if I buy it a real present.

Ok that's interesting. There's not a lot of deer around here. The deer hunting season is about 10 to 20days and is heavily controlled. I have never tasted a deer meat, does it taste like a moose or a reindeer?

Nice! It's good to have some John Deere connections This one is made in Germany. There's some differences in a Europe model. For example the sg2 cabin has door for both sides.

Yeah I feel him. It's hard to get the family together, everybody's busy for Christmas stuff.
I bet twins feel slighted too. You have to throw some gigantic party for him, with fireworks and stuff

Lego organizing project

We were looking for Christmas presents and the prices of Lego sets. Man those are expensive.
We have bought a lot of sets over the years. That got me thinking, if they were sorted we could build some cool sets and "the right brick search time" and frustration would be significantly lower. I hope

The shopmanager is helping me or I'm helping the shopmanager.
There's a lot of dust and dog hair on the bottom of the pins. Some random objects too like old candy We are cleaning the Legos too.

Few years back I washed all the Legos. It was a huge task to do.

I went to buy the same pins that I have in my garage storage system and it was a nice surprise that they were on final sale, 0.20€ a set of five
I bought all the rest of them.

I designed some trays were to but the pins after sorting. I had some big sheets of Baltic birch I bought years ago.
There was this hardware store moving and last days the sale was -90%. That was the time I went shopping

The Finnish birch plywood is made in here and it's one of the most common trees around here. It's crazy that it makes the most beautiful furniture and we use it as a firewood.

The welding table is a good working surface but I have to check the cutting depth two times I have some cheap plywood as a surface cover.

I made some 2.5mm grooves in to the sheet for dividers. Looks groovy Then I cut the pieces to size.

After sanding the inside parts of the trays I applied some satin varnish to the sheets. I did two thin layers sanding with steel wool between layers.

It's easier to varnish the inside parts first, then do the assembly work. I spread the varnish with foam roller.

I assembled the trays with wood glue and 19mm pin nails. It's good to tap the nails deep so it really ***** the parts together tightly.

I hide the nails with some wood filler. All I had was oak color but that's ok. It looks like a branch spot when sanded.

After the assembly I did the final sanding with 180 grid and applied two coats of varnish. I didn't do the final polishing with steel wool to the outer surfaces. The plywood gets really smooth with steel wool polish. It would be a disaster to drop one of these when it's full of Legos So it's good to have some grip.

The pins fit perfectly both ways. Our first thought was to sort just the Lego technics but now we are sorting them all. I made six trays but I think I have to make some more..

I bought 2mm hard cardboard for the dividers. It's cheap and good stuff for this purpose.

I designed the trays for the red pins to fill the whole tray, or if we use dividers the pins fit inside the divided part and the last slot is smaller. So we can but big stuff between the pins with dividers. easy but complicated

And yes, all the trays are full now We have sorted about 60%. I have to do six more trays. But those are easy to do and I have few plywood sheets left. I've been planning a final location for these Lego trays, I think I'll make a cabinet for these trays or I can fit them to the shelfs of the workshop. I have to plan some options.

It's nice when they are stacked together dust wont get in to the boxes. My OCD is taking a full throttle

Now I'm going to build six more trays

I did some comparison. 12mm 4x8ft birch plywood is about 50€ here, Price at The Home Depot was 48.33 dollars so you guys have cheaper plywood That -90% sale was sweet thou

Yes it's a huge task to do but I like it. I wish we can do some building sessions with my family. It's pretty relaxing to do. Maybe some day there will be grandkids to give them all.
We mostly dig the Technics with motors and stuff. I think I'll build a cabinet like in the picture.

First I'm going to but those trays on to the shelf I have in the workshop. I have to find a good deal for thicker plywood so I can build a cart for the Legos. Good quality drawer slides and some handles too, and maybe some label holders

I ordered the last pins were on sale and had a Christmas card too.
It was my Birthday so I got gifts My wife knows my childhood traumas and bought me a thermal mug and a Bahco combination square.

I glued some boxes yesterday and did some secret Santa work.





We had some snow yesterday so "it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas"















Nelli is enjoying the warmth of the fireplace and the smell of the ham roasting in the oven.
