Tape measure dating

I have a Mitutoyo tape measure and the font looks like it's from some years ago. The "snap lock" looks 70s or 80s to me. Does anyone happen to know about when this tape was made? I'm not having any luck finding anything about it

Looks like about cancelled around 2000, not sure when registered yet
