Hello, I am getting ready to tape the corner joint where the ceiling meets the wall. My question is it is 40 feet long, should I tape the whole 40 feet in one go, or short segments? Thanks
Mudding/sanding will be a little easier to do the whole length with one piece of tape. Also if that tape goes over the ends of the tape from the walls and ceiling. Is there a reason you want to do short segments?
I agree. We did everything on mine in one piece, unless we ran out of tape some place in the middle of one of the runs. I did use the nylon mesh stuff that is sticky on one side so you could go along and put the tape up first. It did make it easier.
I typically work alone and have sometimes found long pieces like that with enough weight will pull down what I have just mudded up. so cut a piece of wood and if you are on a ladder do as far as you can reach and put the wood in to hold it up till you reposition and repeat.
I am working alone on it and not the best on corners so wasn't sure if it would be better/easier to do short runs over doing the whole thing with one peice.
Depends on your skill level, but I watched my drywall guys and they all preferred the fiberglass self-adhesive tape for these situations. I suppose it's about what you are most familiar with.
