It would be nice to see a nice Tekton etched logo on the ratchet heads of the new 90t designs but that's being picky, those rats look good. The handle design is different and appears so for good reason. Interesting post from S-auto-bacs regarding US made sockets design being linked to warranty constraints. I recently bought 2 sets of NOS Proto 1/2" sockets in SAE, 1 in 6pt & 1 in 12pt, they must be a few years old as they are pre-flank drive design. I like them, there well broached and chromed but are heavy solid chunks of metal with no knurling or stepped shoulder on the larger sizes, the smaller sizes are necked down but for comparison the weight of a Proto 1-1/4" socket is 222gram(7.9oz) compared to a Kincrome shouldered 1-1/4" 161gram(5.7oz). I know these days flank drive is the way to go but to be honest I love the way the old Proto's fit a fastener, great tolerance & 'feel'. For $22au a set it would have been a sin not to buy them.

Yeh would of been nice logo the head area or have part number/lubing notice roll stamped into it .
Kinchrome stuff feels awfully light, I handled some ratchet wrenches and they felt light as aluminium !

Yeah, their new range of sockets have changed I really like the style I bought several years ago. Although I've notice Taiwan tool co Force Tools sell identically designed/half chrome half satin sockets that must be from the same factory. Kincrome is pretty innovative but some products are great, some just overpriced stuff with their name on it. They are big on their Lok-on™ sockets now that claim to turn fasteners that are 80% rounded, they have the ribs on them like other designs. To me that sort of thing is more a specialty socket though they sell them in sets with extensions, ratchets etc as a mainstream socket set. I have a set of Metrinch impacts for that job.

I like the premier taiwan half polished hals soft satin with knurl band and full length stepped shouldering
kinchrome I seen look average short shouldered and polished which same basic low manufacture costing design .
Wrenches I handled where all different, some shaped like facom plus branding in the forging dies and some like geartech rebranded sets .
Seems quite a mix and match of design/quality sourcing, ratchet wrenches was clearance stuff from a independent tool truck, was cheap but didn't know enough about brand want try the wrenches and they just felt light and cheap but nice design .

Premier Taiwan? Are you talking about Sealey's Premier sockets? Just curious...

Received the 18" 3/8 ratchet today. Have not used it yet but I like the handle, feels really good in my hand. I think Tekton has a winner here.

Those look like Genius sockets, wonder if they're from the same factory? :dunno:

I have a couple larger Genius sockets (20-24mm) and they are made a little thicker than my others so their head diameter is a mm or two bigger. Are the Premier that way too?

^ I will have a look as have up to 24mm in above sockets, I have not noticed increased wall on larger sizes, they all reasonably slim .
Genius I seen differ in design as no knurl band and shouldering step shorter ...

It marketed more in europe but can find it on eBay Amazon.
satin-chrome sockets are good and hammer through screwdrivers are real good .
Lot of range more average and nothing special, I had some of these satin-chrome sockets over 20yrs in daily use and they doing great, filled in the sets and doubled up few spares in last 6yrs or so as prices been that cheap for the spec/design .

Its amazing when you look closely at Taiwan socketry (is socketry even a real word ) & see the exact same designs used by other brands with the only difference being the brand stamp. It proves MSRP pricing has little to do with product cost on manufacture but more to do with brand market recognition. I can buy facom 440 series & there sealed head dual pawl ratchets & nano sockets sets at a fraction of Facom prices through our local Sidchrome brand. I like muh Taiwan metal but lately my tool truck buddy who has a warehouse full of premium US, German, Japan tools among other glorious offerings has been getting rid of old NOS stock at clearance prices. I just had a set of NOS Belzer universal 3/8" sockets arrive 10-19mm, some pre flank drive Stahlwille metric 1/2" sockets, some Sanvik pliers, Belzer long hex sockets in SAE/metric, a couple of 120xp ratchets $20 & a nice sweet NOS German 3/8 ratchet adapter Belzer of coarse. The Stahlwille 12pt flex-sockets wrenches are pretty cool, I was going to get a 6pc taiwan set but he offered up the goodens at the right price so i jumped. Ya, so I've spoiled the toolbox lately.

Measured premier, the standard length 24mm is thicker compared to sizes under 20mm .
Deeps are not thicker and deep 24mm is 0.7mm less overall diameter .

Do you sleep with that avitar?

Lol, not this one. I had a similar one up of my wife, but she saw it as I left the site up on the computer while at work. Got mad (who knew?) and I pulled it. I said "No one knows it's you and you can't see your face!" So, I put that one up, and she gave me **** about that one too? I said..."It's not YOU!" So I pulled THAT one down. I said "It's 99% guys! Might as well have something good to look at while you read cool ****." :dunno:

Jesus I can't hide anywhere in this house...

I'll just stick to buying tools I guess.
