I have a set. Haven't beat on them hard yet but the inital sharpness and and feel is good. Shanks have a similar finish to an old mac hard handle mini pick I have.

i have that set and only use the 90* and the pick is starting to rotate in the handle. i keep having to buy 4 piece pick sets because i cant find any quality 90* picks but themselves. thankfully tekton does now and i just placed an order for 3 90* picks. so now if/when one breaks or starts to spin the handle i can get one warrantied with out issue

I've tried the Channellock set and I wasn't very impressed. The tips seemed to be pretty good, but the shafts eventually spin in the handles. They use a spline type attachment, instead of wings which are almost always stronger.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Tekton pick shafts are actually made by Grace USA, because both brands are around the same price, they are both US made, they both use 8650 steel according to their websites, they both use wings for the shaft attachment inside the handle, and the pick shapes and tips look almost identical. The Grace USA HP-6 6pc pick set is what I have been using in my shop for years. They are marketed primarily to gunsmiths, so many on GJ probably haven't heard of their brand. Great quality picks, so if Tekton is using their shafts the new Tekton picks should be great too. Pair them with a smaller dental style pick set (with good reviews online) for fine work and you have yourself a lot of capability for a relatively low investment.

I agree with kudakev615, I like how Tekton is selling their picks individually instead of only in sets. I almost always use the straight, 90 degree, and 90 degree bent picks. I almost never use the 180 degree, double bend, or 45 degree picks. I don't think Grace sells individual picks, so if I ever break one I might replace it with a Tekton.

For anyone on GJ who might want good quality US made picks with wood handles instead of plastic, have a look at the Grace USA set.

I'm in for a set as well. As mentioned, the 90* pics on the inexpensive sets always end up twisting inside the handles. Hopefully these will hold up better. I have a couple of ancient sets from HF and they've held up great- except for the 90* which will unthread under twisting.

I have bought like 4-6 of the HF sets in the last 5 years. They aren't very sturdy and break easy (and I am not a pro tech/mech), but they make it up in volume. lol. I need to get a good set.

The Tekton shouldn't have this problem as they use tabs on the blade, like hard-handle screwdrivers do. But we'll find out in a few months how good they are once people start using them.

The Channellock set is $10 on Amazon. The Tektons are $20 on their website. For $30 you can have a really nice set of picks for most anything you’ll need.

I had a set of the Channellock picks in my work box. Got them on an AWD for 5 bucks, which was $4.75 more than they are worth.

I got the Tektons yesterday, they seem much nicer, I'll give them a go.

I also have the Ullmans. But I prefer something with a larger diameter handle, so I use my old HF ones much more often. I'll replace my HF ones with the Tektons when they eventually arrive from Fed Ex

I have so many hook & pick sets, but yesterday saw these jumbo ones at Lowes, and thought to myself hmm have I ever needed such large ones maybe I should buy them.

I would love to see some clear pictures of these and the snap on mini picks side by side. I've tried many but always end up back with snap on due to the slightly thinner points that often make a big difference.

I ordered a set for part of my sons birthday gift. They seem well made and the points are SHARP! I really like the hard handles from Tekton. I bought the Phillips screwdriver sample deal they had a while back and preferred the hard handle over the tri lobe.
