Tons of hits if you search this forum; reviews of their US made 3/8 socket organizer, deep 1/2" impact sockets, discussion of US pliers, and composite ratchets, also comparisons of their roto ratchets to GW and HF

Tekton aka Michigan Industrial Tool has a tool line-up with COO's of USA, Taiwan and China, all at relatively low prices. I've had good luck with their 1/2" drive socket impact adapters (4957) and extensions (4971), both from Taiwan. They are the only folks I know that offer complete 1/4" hex drive nut driver sets (2938) with detents (so they don't fall out of your impact driver), which I love. I bought two sets.

That's all I have so far. I've heard only good things about their warranty service, but haven't had to use it. Tekton is on my look-to list of "good/cheap" and "when I can't afford COO USA" tools.

Great experience with their impact sockets. Bad experience with their extended reach diagonal pliers. I consider them to be equal to the Pittsburgh Pro stuff that HF has. Pretty good most of the time.

I have seen the rep on here a few times, and it seems like they are really good at customer service and warranty based on the posts on here. I bought their large deep SAE 1/2 drive impact set based of what I saw, and I have to admit, they are pretty decent Taiwan made sockets.

The search function does not work on my phone. It's there. I can click it. But as soon as I try to type something in the search bar it closes. :dunno:

I've got a bunch of Tekton stuff including 1/2" impact sockets in deep and shallow, 3/8" impact sockets in deep and shallow, several ratchets including the composites, XXL's, and a couple of others, and a bunch of other items.

I've never been dis-satisfied with any of it. I ordered a few random chrome sockets a few months back for fillers and backups on my race trailer. I was impressed really. Very heavy feeling, nicely finished, I'd swear they come from the same supplier of the Kobalt sockets, but that's just a hunch.

Tekton is a pleasure to deal with and they have an employee who's active here (DaveR) that always handles any issues. They're my go to for affordable alternatives.

I am considering buying their 3 pc swivel ratchet set. Only $55! I figure if I don't like them I'll give them to my boys.

Been using their 1/2 inch deep impact sockets daily, in a professional setting for 2 years with not a single issue. Laser etching on the sockets dont last long though

i have a growing collection of Tekton stuff. My most prized item is my vise. I would say the tekton vises are the best sub-$150 vises on the market, and that includes used USA made ones off of ebay, assuming you are including shipping costs and not someone selling a wilton bullet for $25. I'm talking real-world money, every day.

I usually just google search whatever I'm looking for with Garage journal added. But it seems I just get links to a bunch of closed or deleted threads.

I'll check out tapatalk again just to see if they have a worthwhile search tool.

It's mostly re-branded Harbor Freight stuff @ a higher price, but they do have a few more unique items such as their USA made (Wilde I believe?) pliers, and excellent customer service, as is evidenced by Dave's (Tekton support) engagement on this forum.

I've got those USA made slip joint pliers and they're pretty decent. The finish isn't quite as nice as my Channellocks, but I do like that there is a nut to tighten the joint. The strength of the teeth seems comparable to Channellock.

I like everything I have bought from Tekton, and so far everything (about 10 different tools) have all been made in Taiwan.

I have purged my tool collection of everything made in China or India

Only countries of origin I still own are USA, Japan, Germany, Sweden, Spain, Italy, France, Austria, Switzerland and Taiwan

I have a number of sets of impact sockets from tekton. very happy with the quality. I really like the fact that the sets don't skip sizes.

I see several people recommending the impact sockets.

Are Tekton impact sockets made of cr-mo or cr-v?

CR-V. I've got 2 years on my set and they're still going strong. As others have said, the laser engraving wears off over time, but aside from that they're great for the money.

So, what's the best source for Tekton tools? Amazon?

They offer the full line-up. You can find the item on our page, and then link over. Prices seem fair, and saves having to hunt.

I've got those USA made slip joint pliers and they're pretty decent. The finish isn't quite as nice as my Channellocks, but I do like that there is a nut to tighten the joint. The strength of the teeth seems comparable to Channellock.

They do have a raw steel finish to them. The nice part is that they don't have a lacquer to get chipped up, like the always do. The down side is that you should wipe them down every once and a while.

CR-V. I've got 2 years on my set and they're still going strong. As others have said, the laser engraving wears off over time, but aside from that they're great for the money.

The etching shouldn't "wear off" it isn't applied to the surface, its material removed. Sometimes the dirt and dryness can make it a little tougher to read, but this is fixed with some WD40 and a rag.

When we switched over I did a tumble test with rocks, bolts, water, and sand and it stayed visible past 24 hours. It ended up that I had to re-add rocks because they were breaking down. The only thing I could see messing with them is if its rotated hard and fast against something. Wearing down the surrounding material would cause the markings to fade.

If you have them handy post up some pics if you don't mind.

Thanks guys!

Dave

So they use the same material as the cheaper HF impacts. I was expecting cr-mo like the better HF sockets.

I'll stick with my cr-mo HF Pitts Pro impact sockets, which are holding up well.
