Tekton Wrenches

Hey guys. I'm looking for a set of wrenches. I have a master set of gear wrench ratcheting wrenches in both SAE and Metric. I'm looking for a set of regular wrenches as well as stubby wrenches, but don't want to pay a ton. I don't use wrenches much, but when I do it's nothing high torque. I'm looking at this set:

Price really. As I don't use them as much I can't justify the price. I had to borrow my grandfathers long wrenches and stubby wrenches the other day to do a rack on an 08 Grand Prix. The lines to the rack had to be broken with the long wrenches and then I used the stubbies to get it the rest of the way out. That's when I realized I needed a set. And my gear wrenches have no off set, which I also needed an angled wrench to get the nut on the back of the bolt that holds the rack to the subframe.

For stubby look into CM ones. There the best bang for your buck.

I have the new SAE & Metric full polish sets here....model #s 18772 & 18792 (aka 90191 combo). They have a GREAT chrome finish/feel to them & I would compare them strongly to my non-ratcheting gearwrenches. The biggest difference is that the open end is completely smooth with no "teeth/indents".

For the money, I do not think you will beat them anywhere....especially when you factor in the TEKTON warranty.

These are nice wrenches. I will be doing a full video review soon on them.

I also want to add you can get the 30pc set on amazon for about $80 with free shipping and they come in bigger sizes but you need to buy them in singles. PM Dave. R to get more info on that if you need bigger so he can tell you the part numbers of the newer style.

I really want to buy a set not bc i need them but it be nice to have a set to keep in the truck or car tool set. But I'm waiting for woodstockva to do a review lol want to see them in action lol

They're certainly not great but they're not bad either. I think they're a notch above Chinese Craftsman, just below Gearwrench.

Those might been the older ones made differently. The ones I linked and the op did are made diff. There new style.

I will! I hope I like them. Can't argue for the price. Stubby wrenches don't ever have much torque on them so any will do. Fit is what I'm interested in.

true. the stubbys are not made the sameway as the newer wrenches. also the stubbys are china and the wrenches are taiwan.

The wrenches themselves are very nice. Good fit and finish. The packaging leaves a lot to be desired. Getting the wrenches from the tray was fun. There are rails that go down them to keep them in place, and you have to squeeze if you can and or snip off the buttons on the back. The stubbies had 6-8 screws going through the cover of the packaging into the tray. But the wrenches are acceptable!

Comparing the tekton wrenches to a snap on and an SK wrench, the gap in them open end on the same bolt is less than the snap on and SK. The wrench is advertised as long, but is not as long as your standard snap on or the longer SK. Fitment to the bolt though is superb. I can't talk about strength yet.

I find that Pittsburg makes better open wrenches. I fell that tekton open side gives an rounds fasteners. If you are talking about the cheapest possible set.

I just bought a 7pc stubby ratcheting SAE from harbor freight and they are pretty well made... Except for the ratchet that is not very smooth, so I used tri flo lube with Teflon on them and they operate smoother.

You can find some deals on eBay if you search by bran name. Williams, Klein, Armstrong, Blackhawks, etc. cheaper than amazon.

Can you post them next to CM RP wrenches? So we can compare them size wise and whatnot. Have you used them yet?

Yep. I picked those since we've all had those wrenches at one time or anther or still do so it's the best to compare with I think.

I ended up giving my CM RP to my brother. I couldn't stand them. My favorite wrenches are the SK superchrome long wrenches. Some day I'll get the set. The tekton fit a slight bit better than the snap on wrench. Same length.

So I'm guessing the tekton are longer then the cm in any size? Just asking since the cm you used was a 16mm vs a 17mm like the rest are.

Yeah I didn't have a 17mm craftsman at hand, but yes they're longer than the craftsman of equal size.

Yes.
