Temporary wall covering ideas

I'm renting, and my garage has unfinished walls with exposed studs. I really want to do something to clean up the look of it like paint or drywall, but I can't do anything permanent. Is there anything I can use or do to give it a "finished" look, that I can still undo when i move? Some kind of stick on vinyl paper or canvas cloth or something? I grind, weld, woodwork, and paint so it would have to be somewhat durable and not easily combustible like wall paper. Does anyone know of anything or think of any product that may work that wouldn't be too expensive? I was also thinking of possibly sheeting the whole wall with pegboard and painting it, but I want to see if there are any other options/ideas? Plus depending on how cheap and easy any other options are, I may try and do the rafters as well.

Most property owners would love their tenants to do property improvments on their dime. Call your land lord, I'll bet he would love you to drywall the garage and pay for it and the labor. Worst he can do is say no...

Pegboard was going to be my suggestion. Use screws to mount it and take it with you when you leave. Optionally, I knwo the landlord wouldnt care if you left it when you leave either. I would love it if a tennant did an actual improvement at our rental place - all they leave typically is a pile of junk and holes in the wall.

Doesn't pegboard cost about the same as drywall? And you could remove it just as easy, few screws. I'm with the others, talk to your landlord, I don't see why he wouldn't want you to fix it up.

I agree. Maybe you could work out a deal to turn in the receipt with your next rent check and be able to take that off your rent. I'm doubting he'd pay for labor though, but if he offered.....

I'd probably just hang drywall and paint it, don't bother taping and bedding it.
