It should be ok mine is a aluminum impeller i think. if your really worried do it with water then do a couple of gallons of gas to flush it...

Once you fix the coupler, it still may disappoint you.

Those pumps won't put out near the "rated" GPM. It is kind of like "Detroit Horsepower" from my youth. I think the ratings come from 0 head (not having to pull the fuel up from below) and an unrestricted outlet. Pumping up from a tank and having hose/nozzle on the discharge greatly reduces the flow.

I would test with mineral spirts. Flow ratings with a register on it , maybe 15gpm using a non automatic nozzle.
