Re: My "Shop"

why in the heck do you own so many trimmers?

Theres only 3, 2 I use and 3rd wife or son uses when them do lawn. I drive for a living and I find blowers, trimmers, lawn mowers, you name I probably found it. PPL throw them out once the cant start them so I bring them home fix them or strip them for useful parts. Next time try to order some parts for a lawn mower or trimmer and how much ther are. Only thing for equipment that I brough it blade edger and chain saw attachment everything I found.

Re: My "Shop"

@ XRDAD. In Florida alot of ppl have sliding screens on there garage and that what they are. It basically like sliding doors 4 panel with a track. My has what they call privicy screen you can see out but not it well sort of. Its the best thing I ve ever did for garage and at only $650- 700 dollars.

That's one of the best ideas I've ever seen! I'm about to build a new garage, but it's right on the street (like 10 feet from the road!) so a solution like this is ideal to allow an open feel and keep flies out too!

Re: My "Shop"

Its works great for insects, privacy and keeps stuff from blowing in. If there one downfall it is keeping the tracks clean. Your constanly cleaning them and making sure wheels in door are moving and cleaned. I took them out for cleaning and man its a big difference without them. Its basically turn my garage to another living area of house plus it nice working out there without bugs flying around.

Re: My "Shop"

a few updates I redid folding hinge prop 3 times and did a sliding bottom shelf with full extension ball bearing slides. Ill use it like this for alitte then I ill finish all the welds up and paint it cause theres a few things I might add but im using the K.I.S.S ( keep it simple stupid) method on this one.

Re: My "Shop"

Very nicely organized shop. The table build is great! I love the design of the folding table prop. I may steal that idea.
A few questions about your mig welder. I just picked up the little brother to yours off of CL (http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=143925). I’m looking for a manual for it but haven’t had much luck. I want to figure out how to use it with gas. Have you used yours with gas or only flux core? I don’t see any place for a regulator or solenoid but I haven’t opened the case up yet. Got a manual for yours? It may be similar to mine. Thanks!

Re: My "Shop"

i dont have a manual for it but as far as tips standard tips work but cant find a replacement nozzle so a redid the end with copper pipe. Ive only used it with flux wire but friend I got it from just found regulator so I might run gas. Regulator is external and will mount to your gas bottle and solenoid is internal. There should be I alittle plastic line coming out the back in which to hook a gas line. Ill be honest with ya its a good little welder but get yourself some .030 tips and some .030 Inerrshield NR-211 and have fun. Ive found parts are hard to come by and its not worth the money in fixing up this one too much. Any CO2 regulator will work on it but I would only get it for if you really what it and use it on the next welder. This the one Im looking at to relace mine at some poin.

Re: My "Shop"

Last picture why is all the wire hacked up. Your missing your wire guide and your gas line which is the clear line coming from the gromet from the back so in other post I dont know if you can even run gas now. The hose is one piece from the gun all the way to the back of unit. Again I would worry about gas but just use some .030 innershild ( flux core)

Those pictures were exactly what I was looking for. Thank you! Possibly the last owner modified it with a different gun. I think I will pull it apart this weekend and see what I can find. I took it to my LWS a few weeks ago and got a new new tip and some 0.035 flux wire for it. That is what was in it when I got it. I loaded the wire the other day and it seemed to run fine without the wire guide. I haven't had a chance to run any beads yet, but it did strike and arc with the new wire. For $35 I'm not complaining. Thanks again for the help.

Re: My "Shop"

I wouldnt complain either.... I weld alot of old bed frame and on the machine .35 you might have to run it on 3 or 4 2 might be too cold. I run mine on 1 and its to cold 2 or 3 is ok 4 too hot. BTW...... VERY IMPORTANT mine does and probably your does too wire feed adjust itself with heat seating. The higher the temp fast the wire speed so keep it on 5 and fine tune from there. GOOD LUCK and glad I could help out.

Im I the only one who does this!!!!

Wow.... I was just looking through the pictures I took of garage and its funny looking at it cause to me it looks messy. I decided to do some remodeling out here. I got ideas for new cabinets over main workbench and plans for 2 44 in HF tool boxes where desk is plus redo shelves in desk area plus some wiring of some outlets. This seems like the 99th major redesign since Im redo or rearranging 75% of both back and one side wall. I would redo storage wall with better shelfves but really those work ok they really would be the same except better built.

Re: My "Shop"

I have to say its as nice and neat as it is it always seems like if I get one thing i have to make so many changes and rearranging it make it work since at some point I will park cars back in here. I got a drill press which I always wanted have to find a spot for it and build a shelf and so on. Father in law gave me a small 9 bandsaw.. have to work it in. Biggest one to date was a 8500w generator friend gave me. It needed a gas tank and frame was rusting and wiring was hacked but it work. I had to get rid of one lawn mower and build a custom frame to house it under a shelf. Just getting frustrated that nothing is simple no more.

Re: My "Shop"

I forgot to mention attic space is all used up also. Besides the usual holiday stuff I got all my camping gear, fishing gear, coolers, 3 ladders, 16 gallon shop vac, 2 workmate, chair and on and on . Its just a pia to do anything anymore just setting up to do a project is a project in itself. HOA doesnt allow sheds and Im not moving so I sit out here and think of ideas and Ive used every single space saving idea in the book to fit everything in.

Re: My "Shop"

oh btw..... all you might wonder why so much work everyone seems to like place so much...... well Ill say this I been wanting new boxes for years and finally settled for the HF 44s. I been needed to do electrical work for some time and with wife getting a bigger car it wouldnt fit on right ( left if looking in) cause wall stuck out to much with air return. With new boxes, new car coming and my father buying the supplies for all electrical work it was right time..... btw after all is said and done we spent $225 for all electrical supplies and another $100 for wood, drywall and misc so for say $350. I did 4 new circuits and completely rewired every fixture, fan and outlet ( btw there was only 4 in entire garage before 2 behind W/D and 2 behind fridge)and redid 1 corner in garage for $350...... oh sorry say $400 i had to buy dinner 2 nights LOL. oh almost forgot here is a pic and my truck and room made

View media item 30434

everything was pushed back 12 in which now i can walk in front of truck was before I could tailgate almost hit bench top if you look at previous pics of old area. There are 4 areas in garage..... there storage wall with totes, W/D sink area fridge, the new computer tv area, and finally the working wall.... working wall is always changing but only thing that will change there is wire shelves. Cabinets, tool boxes, top shelf, bench will all stay just trying few layouts to find layout really like which works well....

Re: My "Shop"

You have done well, great job on electricals. I plan to move up to 150 amp service to my garage this summer, giving me 50 more amps to play with.
