Re: My "Shop"

Got clock back up and pluged it..... I really dont use it so set it to 5 olcock cause its 5 oclock somewhere and always in my garage. Decide to show off my twin HF 44 workbench, The vise is a old Wilton shop king I stripped and waiting to find the matching paint to the HF boxes. Top is 3/4 inch plywood with 2x4 layed on the flat. Its kinda a floating top its just resting on top of the boxes by can be slightly lifted to roll boxes out for any reason. Electical panel all finished up extra shelf done. All wireing tucked up and cable tied.... Now just some paint touch up

Thanks, Actually its been alomost 8 year build, countless remodels like that its just to bad I found GJ few years ago.... you would be really surprise. I getting to the finish line on major construction and wifes happy too. I ve done major reorganizing at least twice a year for almost 8 years. In pass 2 months I got stuff ive been talking about doing for years. New tool boxes, major electrical work done and 2 major wall remodels cause its taken almost 8 years to finally come to a layout that works and I colllect all major equipment and tables. Most stuff I dont buy but trade or acciquire. Oh you reminded me I didnt get to show new lightning plan. I was having issues with downloading pictures that day. I show lightnimg in next post.

Great little work space, way too organised!! makes sense when you have lots of gear, you can fit so much more in once it's in crates and boxes.

It really has to be to use all available space. I had 2 cars in here before someone gave me a riding lawn mower. Plan has always been ability 2 park cars in here just in case of a hurricane.

Well its been alittle over 8 yrs in the making with many many changes over the years. I made a previous thread called "my shop".

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=142100

I didnt only wanna show off all the new changes to the garage but to show the 2 car garage ppl some love. I wanted to show with some planning, ingenius ideas and use every inch of space you too can have a neat organized place. This isnt a show garage but a real working garage doing all types of projects and i did this garage on not ton of money but really little to no money. I have 4 areas in my garage 1. storage, 2. wife sink and fridge, 3. desk, tv, computer, and 4 work bench. Hope you like, get some ideas, or share some of your own great ideas.....

Im gonna start off showing the storage area.

all tucked in and the black line was 4ft by 19ft addition for the garage but it works as a line to park my truck. Also garage door sensors are set to height of my bumper and when I do pull my truck in i put tries on line and just far enough for door to close.

Only 5 stitches? If I do a project like that you can figure on at least 3 trips to the ER.

I like what you have done.

ha ha. My 3 boys were brought up being told "Is there any blood? No? then get lost"

Nice 'secret storage'. Clever use of the space.

Nice job!

That is such a great (and obvious!) thing to do to ensure that your (wife's) car has pulled in far enough.

Yes it is, I know they say to set them just off the ground but really how many times have ppl accidently almost closed their garage door on their car. I know my father did when he backed his truck out about 2 ft to do something and forgot to pull it back in.

Thanks all, I always like being organized but sure is a must in only a 2 car garage. I have cheated in ways. I got some cabinets outside that holds my lawn tools like shovels, rakes, and some other things. Plus the HOA cant say anything cause its a cabinet verse a shed. I also have a good attic which i keep all holiday, camping gear, ladders. Like say got use every available space you you can.

the shelf looks long with no support in the middle. Is there any sag?

Im not really sure the question but every 16 or inchs theres furring strips with 12x12 shelf supports plus the construction of shelfves help with sag.

Re: The 5 Sticthes Garage.... 20x23 in FL

Ok, got it. I see the vertical strips, but did not see the brackets-thanks.

No problem.... those four shelfves came with house but they weren't in that location and ive cut and spliced them. They have held up well and hold ALOT of pounds with but have only one vertical 2x4 at one end and there support on there end. Where built with 1x3 and 1/2 ply and 1/2 furring. I do admit I much rather 2x4 stud for wall and 2x4 and 3/4 ply but theres no plan to redo that wall like I did with workbench wall or desk area. This is the shelf design I use granted I usually put front 2x4 straight but needed the space so laid it on the flat. This shelf is 16 ft long 16 in deep.

Re: My "Shop"

I really love that work cubbyhole you have. A place for everything and everything it its place.

As far as the sink goes, my utility sink came with a cover that was made for it. I find myself using it as a "setting place" for project work that comes into the shop, one way to insure that it is moved "throught the process" to final disposition, since if it sits on the sink top very long I move it along because I want to be able to use the sink whenever I need it.. But another thoughtful / duel-use of that space idea...

View media item 32570sink area i made with old kitchen sink with storage under it for dog/cat food and gen storage everything on dollies i made up. Gen is a 8500 watt 13 hp on custom frame i made to fit under shelf on storage wall but when finally got a tank for it it was 3 in too tall to fit so made structure for tank to sit and found home here.

nothing to special here but wanted a mirror over sink but it would block shelfves so use a old medicine cabinet mirror so I can get to stuff behind it.

Had to do something with all my lic plates some glued some magnets to them and stuck them on fridge. Someday when i get to it im gonna paint fridge red.

That sink saved my marriage.... wife got pissed when I used kitchen sink to clean my grease hands, and other things. lol I use that thing daily so much projects would be gone in few hours. I really dont know what i would do without it.
