I could just put uprights on and some wheels and call it mocked up, try out, make any changesif needed, and finish it but wait thats to easy. LOL I have this HD metal drawer which I would like on it so bang. I get a bungee cord and lets see. Damn okay just alittle notching for drawe to slide BUT DAMN IT now cant fit torches as planned. So guess Ill run without drawer. Then gonna cut drawer out of my HD metal table and use this one ( its deeper but narrower then other ) the cause then I can put recievers it HD table for vise and such...... GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR....................... I thought I was done until garage sucked me back in.......... :lol_hitti

Thanks Herb, As always. Im sure we can find something for gun bench. LOL. I like vises and try to collect different ones. I would like a parrott vise and this other I think is so cool. I wondering if I can build one myself. I linked it below.

Well alittle change means a lot of work today..... I do wonder how I do this to myself. I wanted to fit my craftsman boxes on bottom shelf which means move upper 3 middle 1 and bottom down 1 inch to fit but involved blowing everything apart to do so.......

Cont... Still got to redo top piece cause I made it wrong size. That top was the org bottom I made
I got T pieces to run along bottom and sides, add 4 more casters, and in the gap mount dp and spot for a vacuum. I think that was enough for one night.

Re: The 5 Stitches Garage.... 20x23 in FL

Can't tell exactly from the pictures what your doing with the framed and double stacked tool chests? Looks like it will be a roll around tool box? Does the bottom box not have a top that opens? Also wondering what will be going in the back half of the frame. I am liking it a lot, and thinking I might have a similar thing I can do for some of my parts cabinets. Problem is, I am out of roll around room in the shop now, as I am wintering wife's potted and hanging plants in one end of the shop.
I like your work a lot!!

Best Regards
Herb Spencer (And happy holidays!)

Well, it's good to hear from you and thanks for taking time to stop by. That's is the drill press table I discuss I earlier post that i finally for some time to play with. I tried typing it out but in this case pictures show things so much easier. Picture shows the smaller DP I've been using . The ********* I shown before is one I'm using for this project. The boxes will be drill bit storage and other stuff and back half will be pole of dp lowering overall height to fit in the place I have for it plus it was to tall to use safely. First pic, is side view of cart and space. Second, is the height I have to work within. Third, is more of better idea of how pole will fit behind boxes. With my job it is our peak season so trying to get some things done cause next few weeks until after Christmas is wake, work, dinner, sleep repeat. LOL. That reminds me my wife has a huge poinsettia in front a have to built removal tent idea for freezes we get. Funny those plants are big at holidays and winter but cold will kill them.

Re: The 5 Stitches Garage.... 20x23 in FL

OK all clear what your doing now. That is the biggest poinsetta I have ever seen. Here we only get the potted ones. I live in NW Arkansas so we are now covered with snow and ice. Thankfully, I have my 4WD Silverado and we just got a new Subaru Tribeca, so going is possible, but being retired, we have just stayed home since Thursday. I am finishing cutting out the pieces for the Nativity, and wife is painting the details on them. We are almost done with it. Tonight using home grown tomatoes from our fall garden we have a huge pot of vegatable soup!!! My number one favorite!!

Best Wishes
Herb

Thank you. That's my wife's pride and joy. That was planted from think one or two potted ones few years back. Its really been a surprise cause its a special one. Its doesn't all turn red but has bows of red and rest is green which I never seen. Its just starting to turn red it parts. I been thinking of better way to cover it during the overnight freezes we get. I should get working on it. I been playing in garage making a mess with some new toys I got recent. I been hearing about ice storms up by you and I would stay inside with nice bowl of soup myself.

Not Black. If you use a dark color the whole shop will feel smaller and since most small parts are dark it will drive you crazy looking for that one screw.:bounce: The cream color will probably hold up better than white.

I always paint my benches grey. Black is too dark, and white gets real dirty, real fast.

Well after today with son and front end issues on his truck bench is in holding pattern. I do like white with replaceable hardboard top. Its has served me wel. Gloss gray would look good also.... I got some thinking to do. I do agree that the white looks good but takes a lot to keep clean. I always repainting it giving it a fresh coat to keep it looking good. I just been looking around at places and mine granted looked good paint wise but gets dirty quick with projects.

Hey taumac! Good to hear from you! Come on by the shop anytime. Once these 6 degree next few nights are over, I am planning on spreading some dust around as I am going to redo a couple of workbench tops with some 3/4 Oak T&G. I will have to wear a respirator because that stuff eats up my sinuses big time. Yep for a couple weeks the shop will be pretty messed up while I get this done.

Hope your having a good 2014 so far!!

Best Regards
Herb Spencer

Well today was a good day.

I love these screen especially with the special screen

I don't know :dunno: where you got your screen but mine is almost identical. The only differences that I can see is that mine is white and I ordered mine with a taller "kick plate" at the bottom. I love that screen; it keeps my garage bug free, and much cooler.

You can see my 8'x18' screen door at the link in my signature below...

Re: The 5 Stitches Garage.... 20x23 in FL

Went shopping today hit HD, Lowe's, Harbor Freight, .... bought some cutoff discs, innershield for welder, and some impact tips for my 18v dewalt all at HD. WOW ON CLEARANCE for $4. SOLD Saw same cool stuff at HF. I'm ready digging that small clamp multi position vise.Hopefully when income tax check rolls in ill get the Lincoln 140 pro mig I spotted at Lowes. I still have some research to do cause doesn't look like same pro mig 140 off Lincolns site. I currently welderless my O/A tanks are empty, my old CEM 140 has issues and currently not useable, the little pos stick still working so might have to use that. I could go get friends Lincoln A225 but its heavy and pia sticking in a/c. I did have other friends Lincoln 3200 mig machine here for awhile but he needed it back so. You never know who much you need a welder until you don't have one.

Well today sadly I have to say goodbye to my welder. The CEM Dual mig 140t has help build the 5 Stitches garage to what it is today. Hopefully, a good friend of mine finds a good home for it but are relationship has come to a crossroads and as parts are hard to come. Unfortunately, she has left me with 2 unfinished welding projects to do but really I gave her a extended life the last few years. I'm replacing her with a Lincoln 140 soon. Although being replaced she not forgotten. LOL.

Have a good one, Gerard

Sorry to hear of the welder going out. While a new one is costly, it will bring you savings over the long haul. I am pretty good at justifying buying new equipment. Imagine yourself as the CEO of your own repair business. You are the guy who authorizes the purchase of "New Equipment" to keep your business humming. It is a "cost" of doing business. It is THE thing to do. (What you have to do is imagine you actually run a business in your shop, and make a profit, which makes all I am saying ok.)

For example, this week I spent over $125.00 on my 35 year old table saw. All I got for that money was a new blade and a set of casters. "However" the blade was a 54 carbide tooth Freud, and a set of "Kreg" casters to fit the fabricated in my own shop rails. So it was an excellent business decision on my part or at least it cleared the board of directors (Me). This was a case of "repairs to equipment", and not a new purchase which goes a long way in spending justification.

In your case your purchase of the new welder is so much better and a smarter business decision for YOU. In fact, I can see no way you would not buy one. You should buy one for a good business decision as you need it to continue to progress, which is what you are doing---progressing. Have a board meeting---present the need---get it approved---make the purchase.
How can the board of directors (yourself) possibly not see the wisdom in the purchase of a new welder to keep you humming and gumming along? (LOL)

Best Regards
Herb Spencer

Hey Taumac -- I just got caught up on your garage....it's looking great. Not sure they're ever "DONE", but yours has come a long way. I really love this vice...I spotted it on your thread quite a while back and had to have one. Mine's still raw metal as I stripped and polished the shiny bits, but haven't painted the body yet. (I still made it my avatar pic though!) What type paint did you use? Turned out great! And that is the BIGGEST poinsettia I have ever seen! I guess some things are bigger in Florida!:dunno:

Well done sir...

Hey SpeedinLemon, thanks for stopping by and checking out the process. The vise I used Rusteloum gloss cherry. I've learned to let ot cure for about a week before using before reassembling and using it. Your right the garage is never done but I do see the light at end of tunnel for sure. Thanks again for stopping by and for your kind words.
