uploadfromtaptalk1397946188077.jpg
My vintage craftsman box. Dad was using it. I gave him my 26 chest in exchange. I needed smaller he needed more tool storage. I also sold him the craftsman 40 I just got. I sold it for what I needed to get the old new chest and vise I got today. I could have made more but just needed to recover cost of today finds. He's happy and I'm happy. Here's a pic of 40 in its new home. Those drawers where pulled from table to make room. So he got 2 new boxes I got 1 and both will be able to clean both out garages up nice. Win win all day long.

Gerard, I like the red vintage box. It looks to me like a MATCO box, or an old Snap-On. I bet "somewhere" within it will be some numbers to identify it. The gray craftsman box is just like the one I have my machinist tools in, only mine is branded "Stack-On".
I would "cherry pie" that red box up and you will have a real treasure. Your doing so much trading, I need to load up my truck with some stuff I have and see if I can get a deal out of you!! LOL

Best Regards
Herb

Pack up the truck and head south Mr Herb. We got warm weather, cool beer and hot deals. I'm sure we could do alittle trading. LOL. I had it on the garage sale tread and they said at the moment in 65 when this was made the that company did make boxes for Snap On but I don't see a snap on num. Theres a stamping.

I really wanted a craftman 11 drawer chest but I saw this and it fit my needs and size I was looking for. I am doing this one up but havnt decided fully. One idea might make a old craftsman guy like yourself very happy with choice of paint colors.

Did some moving and cleaning this morning before I head out for Easter dinner. uploadfromtaptalk1398018937438.jpg

I see some painting in future.

That 4 drawer cabinet just bothers me. I really got to mount it in such a manner that its higher and removable. I take that out first than that gives me enough room to move the boxes when needed. I havnt had the machinist chest in 8 9 yrs. I realize one I want another and second damn it needs restoring BAD. The friend I got it from used a brush and gray paint on outside I knew it but never paid much attention to it at my dads.

I also mounted the D44 and Shop King on same bench. Its a shame to have it sitting on shelf not to use the Shop King. I moved the trademark of my garage which I really need a new mounted different. I'm thinking a shadow box.

Re: The 5 Stitches Garage 20 x 22 in FL

Did some clean up again last night. I mounted smaller casters to my cman roller. I now have both rolling on same height casters. I did also get drawers put in some sort of frame from scrap wood. I broke up the frame I did make for DP and stacked all the boxes on top of each other. I also worked out all the measurements for the DP with drawers and toolbox options. I going with the 2 drawers and cman chest for the DP and the MBC chest will go on top of work bench as a catch all box. Pics not uploading at moment but ill try again later.

Well, I got my other machinist box.
uploadfromtaptalk1398460469584.jpg
Got some other things today also.
uploadfromtaptalk1398460513766.jpg
uploadfromtaptalk1398460528126.jpg
Those claps I'm gonna use as 90° welding clamps.
On a funny topic I thought I was downsizing garage some.
I sold 4 to get 2,

then bought 2 and sold 1

sold that one to dad and gave another.

Brought home a machinist and set of drawers.

Bought a machinist today and now father wants tp get rid of a roll bottom.

????????

Few weeks started with 10 tools boxes and now with fathers roller I will have 12...... WTF..... LMFAO

Don't worry too much about it. Tool boxes are like pretty women. One is all you need and can handle, but there are still lots more out there. LOL.

Re: The 5 Stitches Garage 20 x 22 in FL

LOL, good one herb. Its just the way of my garage. I think it takes min 5 attempts to do any project. The problem is just a space issue. A extra foot here or there or in some case just a few inchs makes a huge difference. LOL I here the jokes coming now. LOL!!!

You have your hands tied working in a box and getting parts and pieces to fit and getting the overall look you desire takes some attempts. I'm getting there. The smaller new machinist boxes will work nice and thinking the new roller from my father might help.
uploadfromtaptalk1398545408687.jpg
I do plan a whole reorganization of tools when DP idea is done. Here's how I have in now.

uploadfromtaptalk1398545461362.jpg

The new roller from dad is like my rollers but only 2 drawers and a bulk storage. Thinking 2 drawers and maybe the 6 drawer Craftsmans under? I always wanted drawers on my gray table so those narrower diamond plate ones will go in place of the one bigger one.

uploadfromtaptalk1398545814761.jpg

I like idea but them I lose space on side for my reciever hitch vise mount. Then comes trying to figure out the new MBC box and the wanting of the 11 drawer craftsman. I plan to keep everything but the MBC has value in a trading or selling aspect so??? What to do? I'm working it all out maybe by next weekend ill have it figured out.

On a other note I've broken down the MBC chest. Doing alittle sanding and removing some of the dents and such. Most of the issue is almost 45 50 yrs of use and grime.

Box is in great shape just needs some TLC and some fresh paint. Just need to get lock and handle for parts.

Re: The 5 Stitches Garage 20 x 22 in FL

Hey Gerard
Are you going to be able to mount the drill press and be able to use it without having to move out the cabinet? However I really like the idea of being able to move the DP around the shop, that would be pretty handy. I was just thinking of being able to use it in place like for long items, etc. I am getting senile with old age, but I have totally lost track of how many boxes you have. Do you still have the 1970s Craftsman like mine?

Re: The 5 Stitches Garage 20 x 22 in FL

The DP will mount to top of that bottom roller once I build a frame around it from angle iron. Its real tippy now. The frame will sort of look like this.
uploadfromtaptalk1399003269674.jpg
But I will build it real tight around that roller. That bottom doesn't have the strength so I got to add some. My whole plan is to have a DP mounted on a mobile cart with storage for all my drill bits and accessories. Its the idea I always had but couldn't find cabinet I was totally happy with. I still got the set of Craftsmans like yours. Hoping to find some more of those in the future.

Re: The 5 Stitches Garage 20 x 22 in FL

Weather ***** today so getting some garage time in. Started working on my heavy table with welding flip table.

Tack welded some door hinges on.
uploadfromtaptalk1399063391072.jpg

Welded hinges to top.
uploadfromtaptalk1399063454586.jpg
uploadfromtaptalk1399063514191.jpg
Good thing about using door hinges is that I could remove the table until I get chance to narrow cart. I also need to figure out the prop how i what to do it.
uploadfromtaptalk1399063594227.jpg
uploadfromtaptalk1399063612272.jpg
On cart I did a wheel swap to some taller wheels.

Love the sign but the "no women allowed" would get me a trip to the doghouse here.
Wife has a big habit of coming to the garage armed with boxes of "craft paint", "artist brushes" and various "floral" items. She sets up on my center bench for "days".

Otherwise love the sign!!

Yep, I'm up to my crazy *** ideas. Tonight I was working on some inventive storage solutions..... LMFAO. Ok well how do you fit a top chest in my work bench wall WITHOUT losing any work surface??????

uploadfromtaptalk1399518665090.jpg
uploadfromtaptalk1399518681879.jpg

Sometimes I wonder my mental state. It took some time but I worked it all on that one wall. This works cause gets it off bench and still have use of vise. The drill holders will go to right of bench light. The drill chargers will be mounted to board to right of drill press.

Now just waiting for wall to fall down.

uploadfromtaptalk1399518794598.jpg

I decided to go back and build DP will that MBC box. I using that bottom roller as a temp deal until I restore the MBC. The only thing I gonna do it find a place for my welder and welding torches????? I got few options to ponder.

Re: The 5 Stitches Garage 20 x 22 in FL

I possibly found a deal that will throw a wrench in my workbench wall. Im just hoping that it happens. I did find free **** today.
uploadfromtaptalk1399608847694.jpg
uploadfromtaptalk1399608894681.jpg
The clubs don't look like much but I know a secret about them. I found them in a free pile by curb. They clone clubs called King Snakes after the real club called King Cobra. A long time I spent lunches in a golf shop learning about golf club making. I did this for about 4 yrs and in this time I had a set of these. I traded them to custom build a set for myself at the golf shop. I still have those and play them proudly cause the owner warren past away. He was a great guy and my golf mentor.

Anyway, Clone clubs are ALMOST like real clubs but small changes keep them from copyright or patent infringement. Well the makers of King Snakes was the only company never to get sued by a club maker for coping there design. I use to love theses clubs and I plan to clean them up and chase the ball around soon with these.

Can't say much being going on. MIL fell Saturday and broke hip. She had surgery Mon but its gonna be some recovery time. I did try removing more dents from the new chest but the heat/ then cold method didn't work. I think metal is to thick. uploadfromtaptalk1400103124948.jpg

The compressor looks pretty good. Too bad about the tank. On the tool box dent, I would probably be trying a piece of 4X4 and a body hammer. If you could get a wedged piece of 4X4 behind the dent, you might be able to coax it out with a few well placed strikes. Maybe if you can use a flat piece of metal stock on the outside to beat on.

Good Luck--I'm waiting to see that little treasure repainted!

Thanks, I've always liked VWbut do like the styling of Audi better. Netherless, wife loved that car and that was our first VW. When we found it was beautiful and WELL maintained.

She was rear ended at speed maybe 30 40 mph maybe idk, no skid marks and she walked away unharmed. That is a true testament of that cars safety. That's the 2nd or 3rd accident I heard where if it wasn't a Passat then it could have been a lot worse. Currently, looking for another Passat to replace it since we love it so much.
