While that is good in theory I'm been too busy staring at craftsman wall waiting for a light bulb to go off. I've tried 4 different ideas since last post and still thinking about it. I'm working closer to hopefully better overall idea.

I've also been trying to get rid of the welding cart I made. [emoji20] I just don't have room for it. You know routine by now... Move one thing means moving 3 others. The cart worked when I had 9 drawer over by sink with 2 carts and even the lateral file with the one cart. Now that that space in taken up by the big mobile table. See that all worked because 9 drawer held all my welding stuff and welding cart right next to it. Now that it's on Craftsman wall how do I get some of the welding stuff back together? I'm thinking the lateral file but what do I do for table? It's all problem solving and finding solutions. It's just all pieces not working as hoped. I'll get there soon.

I'll be there someday. And it might be later this year. And you'll be a definite stop. I'd love to hang with you and have a cold one.

Hey, if and if Shorty and cb could be there, it would even be better. And if ANY of you guys want to cool off this summer, ya'll welcome to give me a holler and come up for some fresh Maine Lobster and some northeast hospitality.

Long project finally done. At work we have these 30 and 36in fans and we have a lot of them. Life without them working in a warehouse in Florida is unbearable. We recently went through a whole system upgrade and some of the old ones where reposition into areas the didn't have them. I really thought I could get one but it didn't work out as planned. [emoji20]

So I had a small of these motors laying around.

d06966d71aeeea5c927907d368748684.jpg

I had this fan blade and cage also.

So how do I adapt a bandsaw motor to a fan cage not meant for it. Well I needed a adapter but what to use???? Well I used a circular saw blade.

So I drilled holes and mounted the motor to the blade then blade the the cage. The motor had small hump

So had to space blade off the motor so I used some washers and nuts.

I then had to drill out the fan shaft and used washers as spacers.

Here's what it looked like all finished. ( minus paint. LOL)

Ok let's see fan blade spinning at 1725 rpm this should be great. I plug it in and it works!!! There's no vibration but output isn't what I hoped. I have smaller fans like this so it somewhere between ones I have and work ones.

I started to think ( not good idea) if I bend blades like ones on the ceiling that it would push more air ( I'm have no ******* clue I'm winging it)! So I tilt blades and make sure all bent to same angle and all in line. I put shroud back on and get ready!

CONTACT.... LOL Well apparently if you put enough angle on a spinning fan blade at 1725 you can create enough force to propel a fan across the garage. NO I not kidding I had it on the cart and it flew off the cart onto floor and across the garage into the storage wall!

PLAN B.
I scaled back the angle I used to between what I did and what was original. I also decided to strap in down to cart.

I'm thinking of mounting it somewhere similar to what's at work. Summer is here and this will sure help make it alittle more tolerable out the in the garage. [emoji482]

LOL, he wants CB and me there because we have real tool cabinets and you only have CM.

The date was June of 2005. A friend and I took a road trip to Americade, Lake George NY and Laconia Bike Week. It was actually hotter there than in Tallahassee. As you can see from the pictures I was sweating like a lobster in a boiling pot. :3gears:

My garage appeals to the working blue collar man which likely those guys would have Craftsman. Just staying true to my direction of a working mans garage. LOL!!! Ok I'm a cheap *** ******* and can't afford Lista's or Vidmars. Hell I remember spending $800 for my HF cabinets and damn that's most I ever spent in my garage ever.

HOOTERS!!!! No wonder you were sweating!!! I would be more worried about sporting a woody.

Gerard, that's one funny story about the fan. I can see it happening. I am like you at times (no ******* idea what I doing) But I'm glad you have it working. It's got to help.

Shorty, now I get the nickname. And I think you were sweating for the same reason Gerard said.

That had me doing a Bob Heine snort out the nose..... Not a good look. Maybe you could have attached it to a float boat..... :3gears: :dunno:.

Must have looked friggin' terrifying from the front with the saw blade an' all!

Funny story about the fan. Gave me a good laugh trying to picture that. I bet the look on your face was a good one when that thing took off across the garage. Probably a few choice comments as well. Glad you got it tuned for just the right output. I have a big industrial sized fan on a floor stand. It looks overkill for the size of my garage but on really hot days the amount of air it can move is greatly appreciated.

I have 2 other small fans that have the smaller factory motor they came with plus the 2 ceiling fans. I always wanted to build a big *** fan to move a ton of air. I thought about fans off a/c condenser units or a blower fan from a air handler.i never found those laying around so decided to try hand at this. I'm surprised it worked as well as it did. LOL.

You want a nickname? Shorty nickname is just shorten version of his screen name. Mine is just "G".

Well I learned to stay out of " line of fire" sort of say. I wonder (here we go again) if I redo the blades and put the 2hp 3450 rpm motor on it what would happen. LOL. Might have to bring that outside to make test flight on that one. I'll make sure no houses or moving vehicle are in the way. LOL

Yep, I can say few choice words came out. LOL. Just glad nothing got damaged especially my screens. We have some of those also at work. The are life savers in the summer. They just take up a lot of room is only problem and I just don't have place to put it. Thinking of mounting it by the door on a swing bracket and using to others as they where built.

Gerard, how is the WoC redo going? Did you beer out the new arrangement yet ?

Cheers GB.

Thanks for stopping by and asking. It's going and been getting good idea of how it's going to be. I also been working on other area such as welding solution and what's gonna happen to with lateral file. You know as much as I do that changing one area affects rest of the area. I think I'm making some improvements but results looks like I'm running circles again.
