Damn G, your potent!

I thought what I had going on was a big in my shop, your impacting two other garages in the future.:lol_hitti

LOL, I know right. I doubt others think like I do but at least I'm surrounded by other garage guys that somewhat understand.

Does house B have the same restrictions on outside storage as current? Or, can you have an extra storage shed on that property for yard tools etc?

Same restrictions. The house is literally down the block. I might be able to do some storage cabinets like I have here down there so that I can deal with shovels rakes and a little bit of a garage overflow.

I really hate it get dark sooo early. It really gets depressing and I lose any motivation I get anything done. I decided to get some work done on sons truck. I know one thing is a must in any garage is the ability to pull a vehicle in any do work on it. I swore I'll never work in a driveway or parking spot again. Granted sometimes you don't have a choice but if I have the option it's getting pulled inside. I have lights, music, and most importantly screens to keep the bugs out.

Update on my cantilever box I got. I've been quite surprised that's it's been working out awesome. I find myself not going into my 44's for much.

e02b50d3881a26507217b505d5afcf67.jpg

It's been working great working on the cars also. It's small enough to put on top of my IKEA cart and roll close to where I'm working.
9a0b3c3d04595de3108e9baedbcf2fa2.jpg

I also found out if I put a magnetic bar inside the lid I can put tools I'm using.

2773d965617608ba579f90d8f4f2830a.jpg

I'm finding out the the IKEA cart wasn't made to hold 75+ pounds on top of it. Thinking of a way I can combine the cantilever and cart. Yep, a Hazet
Assistant would be great but that's big money. Something to think about over a beer and stare at it until a get a idea. [emoji482]

This is where engineering meets redneck ingenuity. The shifter in my son truck was so sloppy it wasn't even funny. I dropped the steering column and and took shifter apart and found the bushing where ****.

d3cbefb8f70c2cba16e2a601f2e0d71a.jpg

So needed something to replace them with something so I made some.
9fe1f5d65c5153dbfcee8dbf2e2ff477.jpg

I used a 3/4 copper slip fitting and cut it in 2 so can put around shifter shaft.

f1aa5defb4b67f3439a69b32d74e85ad.jpg

I put it all back together but it was slightly tight so added a thin washer to one side of the hold down clamp. I tested it but still a little slop. Then I looked up something and found a YouTube video about Ford shifters and found the lever that controls the cable the bolt can back out. New homemade bushings and tighten shifter lever and adjusted the shifter indicator and now I can tell what gear the truck is in. That's always a plus.

Well, today I went shopping and bought home couple small things.

I already moved one of the bottom drawers to the top so.... all the drawer handles line up. LOL

All this is the plan when I move to the new house.

I'm really really happy with the way it turned out.

For those that's wondering that's 15 1/2 feet of boxes. I actually downsized because the WOC was 12 1/2 feet plus then the 44's was 7 feet so if I looking at 18 feet if I turned the 9D the right way. Okay I calling it downsizing. LOL.

Looks GREAT! I'd say you're set Gerard!!

Yes, I think I'm done at least for tool boxes. I wanted all matching tool boxes that would suit my needs for long long time. I know even if I don't need all that storage right now I know I will down the road. I wanted to get them while I could still get the same ones I already have.

Nice Gerard. And they're all shiny too. I can see now more than ever you need to have all the space you can get. I'll get working a little harder on helping you achieve that.

Well, in the 5 Stitches V1 they will be spilt up and V2.0 they will be a wall. As far as a top each 44 will have its own top to keep them as mobile and portable as possible.

Very nice Taumac. I like the look of the red/gray craftsman but these are definitely better boxes. I might eventually sell my red and gray craftsman set and black and gray 70s craftsman box for something that will fit under my workbench. I need to utilize my space a little better.

Can't wait to see how your boxes look in your new setup.

WOW! Very impressive all lined up like that. Lots of room for all kinds of new tools. It should look and work great in all future layouts.

And equally impressive is the "downsizing" story. Honey I really have to buy all these new tool boxes so I can down size in the garage. Well played.

Thanks man. This weekend they where down to $339. It's the lowest I ever seen. I definitely can say that I do love those vintage cabinets. IMO one of the best looking vintage cabinets ever made.

You could do a BB slide upgrade on your cabinets. On average it would be $20 a drawer and think only the bigger bottom roller drawers could use it. My top chest didn't seem to have issues loaded. Definitely something to consider if like them. New mock setup to come soon

LMAO, yep that was well played. These is going to work out for all future layouts cause being I "downsized" if I have one 20ft wall I can have a fridge and all toolboxes fit on one wall. That's the plan. If needed I can alway use side cabinet somewhere else in my layout. I see many many garages daily all seem to have 2 long walls and a door somewhere on back wall and electrical planes on usually on outside wall. Well that's in new construction I'm seeing that so I'm planning around the trend of a 20x20 in Florida new construction for future home with specs I listed before.

What's nice is that I can plan now so when first and second move happen I won't be stuck as I was here building for years. Only building I that I think would be acquired is the rim shelf near the ceiling wrapped around the garage to store my totes. Everything below that will be rolled in little to no setup required. Well that the plan....

Well got the back wall back in 5 Stitches shape again. Well plans changed as they seem to do around here. OK!!! I'll wait for you guys to stop laughing.

Done yet...

Still....

Ok, well I thought I was just rolling new boxes over to the Work Wall and that didn't happen. I decided since that the tall cabinet and welding table is on the Work Wall that I should bring the rolling bench over there. In House B this will be part of the Fab Wall. So I put one of the 44's where the bench was. So here's the new back wall until I move from House A to House B.

That actually looks pretty good there. Of course as soon as someone says that you will have to change it. LOL
But seriously it looks, if I am remembering correctly (fat chance) that you would have a bit more floor space that way.

Thank you sir. I have NO plans of changing it. Having one 44 in the sink area really doesn't increase floor space but does give me little more belly more LOL. Keeping the work bench there meant I would have to roll it back in place after every use. If I swap a 44 and the bench either wouldn't have to move to use either to use. That all adds up to less clean up time and more time for other things like sitting back with a cold one. [emoji482]

Damn that looks good! One of those situations where you do your research, plan the attack and then pull the trigger I am impressed! I am glad everything worked out with the Wall Of Craftsman I was only worried because of some of the posts on here however it is tough to tell sarcasm or joking without those funny looking faces called imoojees or something LOL! Take care and keep up the fantastic work... You are a good man lettering the WOC go to a new home, lesser men would have it crushed before sharing the love.

I am going to learn from this and just go buy a bunch of good tool chests right away once I build my new garage and then I do not need to spend a few years messing around trying to make it how I want...

Thanks man, well the first time it supposedly went up for sale the guys where joking with me and the second time it was real with A LITTLE inside joking between members. I have to admit I didn't want to sell the WOC just to anyone or piece it out. I wanted to find someone that would take them and enjoy them as much as me cause it wasn't about the money. A friend and other member suggested try selling on GJ. I did so glad I found someone like Dan to take them and to carry the Wall of Craftsman tradition on.

I did spend a lot of time buying and changing over the years. A lot of it was this is my first garage and want to try this or that. I'm those 10 years I've learned and acquired a lot of thing with most of the help coming from the enablers of the GJ. When I started I wasn't on the GJ or had the access to what we have today. You went to Sears bought some Craftsman tools and a toolbox. When needed more you bought more unless your where a professional and then you got the good stuff. Today, a newbie just starting of in the garage world has so much access to buy whatever he wants from tools, toolboxes and cabinets.

Right now 44s are at all time low at $339 on Black Friday weekend sale. Right now I got about $1700 wrapped up in my 4 44's with side cabinet. That's really not bad considering what you can spend. I like the "lego" effect of the HF. I have to say it's one thing they did right. Tool storage and just storage for stuff I'd definitely something to look into when your place is done. I thinking with way you buy and sell stuff you could buy and paid them off real quick.

Those HF rollers look great and fit perfect. It's like you had them all first and designed the bench and wall for them. but really they came last and fit perfectly. Tons of tool storage and an nice uniform look. Now you got me thinking………...

Thank you sir. Well, it didn't go as easy as it looks. When I did the remodel of sink area I made it all level to the HF bench. I had to do some adjustments to the sink area bench to make the 44 fit. It wasn't much but a 1/4 to 1/2 inch raise to make it all work out. The uniform look does make my OCD happy.

I got you thinking... ? LOL, I got some far reaching enabling skills. LOL

Your new setup came out real nice. I like the ocd. Haha.

What ball bearing slides fit the old craftsman bottom chests? I may end up upgrading them on mine.

Well, I'm not sure. I went looking one day at Lowes for few things and I happen to be down the aisle with the cabinet hardware and saw they had BB slides in few different sizes. Buddy of mine had a Old Snap On cabinet that the friction guides where worn away. I mentioned to him at about $20 a drawer these might be a option. His cabinet I believe was 24" deep. IMO if I was going to do the upgrade I would put the new BB slides above the friction slides. Use the original friction track as your guide on where to drill and rivet the BB slides. I would also still use the friction slides after you install BB slides. In my thinking it would hurt but probably add to weight you could put in each drawer possibly. I don't think there is a direct replacement from friction to BB.

Thanks, when I emptied the WOC I basically crammed the 44's I had with everything I could. If had 3 drawer for say pliers I fit them in one. Did that throughout both 44's and right now there a mess. With those 3 there on back wall and the other 1 and the side on other wall I'm really gonna have to figure out a plan where everything is going to go. My thought is to put all my everyday use tools in one and use other 3 for other stuff. If I do that will one on Work Wall to too heavy to roll around? My plan was to have the ability to actually roll the one around in my garage where as others on the back wall I will have stationary but still be on casters ready to move if needed. I've been working out of the cantilever box so I could say take the top drawer of the 44's and put those tools in there then keep the other with old set up. I also thought of removing the shallow drawers on the one and replacing them with the deep drawers from the others. I have many many options to think about but most definitely once I put stuff in place gonna need a label maker or map of where stuff is. LOL

Now you're talking about getting rid of the cantilever box! First the WOC, now the cantilever. What's next, the totes?:scared:

LMFAO, No I like the cantilever and keeping it. Just debating putting those tools back in the boxes now that I have room.

The tote wall works out just fine and serves a purpose. Plus, I think I'm keeping it cause I know you hate it sooooo much. LOL
