Ok, ok I got it. How about a board slightly longer than your MB is wide that you bevel both long edges. Then in its back side attach a couple long thin strips that fit into the screen threshold track. Store it in the corner standing up and when needed lay it down into and over the threshold track to allow you to ramp over the threshold while your working outside. Once the project is done and MB is back inside you pick up the board and store for next use?

I think that's the idea I'm going with. Its simple and easy. I also researched a uhaul ramp and they are 2'7". I now know anything I make needs to be 30" or under to fit that ramp.

Love the mobile tool cart. Don't let that precious Craftsman 8 inch table saw in the bottom shelf get away from you. You can't get those anymore. I have a 7 1/2 inch saw built in 1963 similar to it. They are very smooth saws.
Good Job on Mobility!!!! Roll that woodworking "outside".

Best Regards
Herb

Thanks Herb. I gave my father my Delta 10in saw because figured this 8in would work ok. Only drawback I'm having is I didn't look for a new 8in blade yet and just took 7 1/4 blade out of my circular saw to use currently and can't rip 2x4 so I have to run down to my FIL or bring his saw here when I need to. That's not too big of deal being in 30sec to 1min away. The mobility plan is really coming together well and still got somethings coming. Thanks for stopping by sir.

8" blades should not be too hard to come across. There are several tool clearance shops around here due to all the shipping that happens through town and I see 8" blades all the time. If you cannot find what you want locally or on the web, let me know and I will see what I can find for you. The 7 1/4 is a good work around until you need that extra little bit on a thicker piece.

I agree with Herb that the 8" is a good keeper. I have seen 7 1/2 blades, but figured they were for a circular saw. I also have used an 8" Skilsaw that a contractor I worked with had. It was a powerful beast.

Good to your old avatar back. It threw me for about 1/1000th of a second.

Glad to see you back being productive. I do think you need everything in your shop on wheels. It'll make it a lot easier for you to change things up every other day.:lol_hitti

Thanks man, I appreciate it. I haven't even tried to even look for one. I think my FIL had a fine tooth plywood blade in there and was shot. Just took all purpose to get whatever I wanted to do done. I really like that 8" saw. Its small and has removable wings, and lightweight so easy to move and store. My delta was about same weight or lighter with aluminum top and plastic base. Very similar to the black Central Machinery one.

I have one of those Delta saws and it is a good saw for throwing in the back of my truck and taking to a job site for rough work. Taking the bigger saw is not practical working by myself. For no more carpentry and woodworking than you do the 8" should serve you well.

Everything that sits on the floor now has wheels. LOL. Its things like shelves, fridges, and water heaters getting in the way. LOL. That's one reason went with another MB instead of shelves for H2 plan. Trying to go with minimal shelves in next place and shelves I'm going to have will basically be tote storage. Well, that's the plan... and we know how that goes by now.

While in the chaos that was about few past weeks I really started to feel I was making some progress overall. After getting all the stuff in the MB's and just getting rid of extra stuff I starting seeing empty spaces on shelves. Then the "WHAT IF" started to happen...

I started to tear into something I NEVER thought I would ever touch again.

f9bc883c21206f90aa2b778969356fd9.jpg

I started by getting rid of the orange buckets and moving up the totes on shelf.

Well the bottom shelf meet my old friend.

2216ad29c469d538812e3a61b6ddbb5a.jpg

Shelf got cut up and tossed out for the trash.

37afe942cbf7c0a41270beb8e9809af8.jpg

I thought that this would give me some floor space to put stuff but turns out something fit real good here.

I rearranged the hanging equipment and got corner cleaned up.

b15eb28fd07116469334be159087a934.jpg

This also really gives me idea of how the path would look next to the truck.

ed3d5ef76d70ed5d1c74ef7425c8dbf1.jpg

I really liked how things where fitting but now had other issue. Where to put the lawn mower, edger, jacks and backup air compressor. So emptied the corner out.

5e0869324acb2b14556aa0407ab37bb0.jpg

I went outside and grabbed the shelf I cut up and spliced one back in and added a section below.
69b3264acad4fe3f8043940044ff491b.jpg

The welding cart wasn't working for me. I didn't like the gap between to MB's top and rolling it in and out was a PIA. Another issue was where my drivers door lined up. It lined up right on the welding cart. So I moved the welding cart off the wall moved the MB's together and inserted the AV cart at the end.

aca25f3ffcbd0eab151a128da358a318.jpg

Theses shelves where originally in the house when I moved in. They been moved, cut and spliced over the years. I honestly really didn't want to mess with them after I got them where they where needed years ago. Times are changing and less stuff and mobility is key.

LOL, I did pick up paint for the MB's so I will be painting in the future. I think that statement just broke the internet. LOL. I wish it was just as easy as throwing some buckets away and getting rid of a shelf. I enabled myself over the years to collect so much stuff that now dealing with it has become a problem. Resorting and getting rid of stuff is long process but it's coming along. This at least allow name to regain some floor space. No Vidmar or Lista for me anytime soon. I would like to replace my tall cabinet with one but it's hard to beat that cabinet right now because it has drawer size I need.

Thanks man. No exorcism I know of....

I'm not going that far. No interior designers choosing paint colors here. This is the 5 Stitches Garage not Martha Stewart's Garage. LOL

Yeah, the guys know me pretty well. I think they're in a conspiracy with my wife to take everything off the casters so I can't move anything anymore. LOL

Have you guys seen the camera set up where it takes a 360 deg photo of the shop?
See, G just needs to set up a simple camera, pointed in one direction and the whole shop will eventually make its way past the camera.:D

Now that I thought of that, a time lapse would of been pretty neat.

Now Craig, if I didn't know better I would think that your trying to insinuate that I have this tendency to move stuff around a lot. LOL

BTW.... The time lapse will be pretty freaking hilarious.

I love this time change. Its so nice to come home and actually get stuff done outside. Tonight I got some dual MB action going tonight.

Its so nice just to roll them out a little and work. Although, it would be nicer if had full access to the top but that's something to look at in future. I cut down the shelf and made it flush.

Before.

After.

I also took look at what to do about screen door ramps. I think a ramp is way I'm going. I hope these picture show up good.

These are larger wheel on the AV cart. MB casters are smaller.

Well, I won't start making anything tonight but now know with 2 totally different angles it's definitely going to make the ramp into pieces. One for the one outside and one for the inside.

Looked through the pics and the layout seems to fit your OCD quite well. Where did you stick the compressor in the current (or the latest photo) version?

Right now just have it over by my HF bench. In all my future plans I really don't have a spot picked out for it. I don't run a hose reel or have any plans for a air system. I just have about 125ft on air hose draped over the handle. Probably when I clean up the work wall (once again) I'll put it over there and run a extension cord over to that outlet because that my dedicated 20 amp outlet for the garage. The only thing that outlet was for when was running my compressor and high amperage tools like saws and welder. I'll have to check into it I might have another dedicated 20 amp circuit on the work wall. I remember running lights and fans on one circuit, the work wall was supposed to have a string of outlets which I think it's on it's on 20 amp circuit and the compressor circuit which is a 20 amp.

G,
How about using a profile gauge (See picture below) to make a one piece ramp, or one ramp for two wheels?
k309631.jpg

Using that just trace the outline on a piece of plywood, cut enough to make it 4" wide then glue and screw them together. It would be pretty small and you could set them down and forget it until you needed to roll something back inside.

You know JB those of one of the tools I always look at and say they'll be useful but I never get one. I think my father-in-law has one down the block I remember seeing. I think I'm going to make it out of wood first before I decide to use any sort of metal.

Just checking in on you G. Glad to see you motivated again.

Maybe if you remember, you can tell me what you used for paint on the boxes that you did refinish. It would be nice to try and match them up.

Aha, I knew the day had to come when the tote wall would need to lose a shelf. Looks much better now with a home to tuck away the MB's. Just the green totes have more symmetry to them without the orange buckets. Well done

Better go have a crack at clearing out some **** in my garage today, lawns too as more rain tomorrow apparently.

Dan, thanks for checking in. I'm so sorry I'm just seeing your post.

Here's the paint I used.

The antique pewter is a dead match for the gray they used. There's a trick to using it. I found spraying it more than 12 to 16 away and misting the surface gives it more even coverage and color. It took me some trail and error to get it right. I get this forged hammer paint at Walmart but have seen more selection last time at Lowes.

The red might be a problem for you. The red I used was meant to match my 44's to give a more uniform look in my garage. I also used this.

b7a89e08a2e8a6f47f3e6dc481e84643.jpg

The Rustoleum is better match to my 44's but the Krylon Banner red dries quicker and better match to what Craftsman orginallly used. Overall the red isn't that important but the gray is.

GB

Thank you sir. I told myself I wasn't touching that wall unless it fell down. LOL. I moved here in 2006 and started the GJ in 2011. Its good thing you guys didn't see the previous 5 years of work I did. I did so much moving and tweaking on that wall that once I got it best I could I swore I'll never touch it AGAIN.

I sold the WOC in Oct and since then really started moving toward this whole new idea in my garage. Its really forced to deal with all the clutter I've collected. Getting rid of stuff emptied some shelves and since I don't plan on having that many shelves down the road what better time then to do away with at least 1. I'm hoping to maybe get rid of another if I can sort through and clean up enough stuff. I'm finding out that having all this shelving has just enabled me to keep more junk that I didn't need. Funny I feel like accomplished more in few months than I have in 10 years.

You know JB those of one of the tools I always look at and say they'll be useful but I never get one. I think my father-in-law has one down the block I remember seeing. I think I'm going to make it out of wood first before I decide to use any sort of metal.

G, I may have one if you need it for your ramp

The first law of storage physics says: Stuff accumulates to fill the available space.

Good work thinning the green herd. I'm attacking storage shelves of my own that have not been touched in years except to add this or that thing. My goal is to at least fill my garbage bin each week with stuff I no longer need. Every so often this quest takes place and I hope I stay inspired long enough to really clean out the junk.

Also glad you posted that paint color as I have a Craftsman small box or two that I'd like to re-paint.

Thanks I appreciate it. Its sure a balancing act of sorting, tossing and rearranging. I really think now that I have probably best idea for my garage it's making it much easier to deal with the clutter. I still have stuff I'm keeping not really to get rid of than there stuff I just don't feel like tossing to the curb. Ill rather it go to people that could use it.

Another cabinet emptied...

This time its one of my outdoor cabinets. I had 3 5HP engines, a deck, several tall rear wheels, 2 handles and box of spare parts. This is basically all the stuff I had from old lawn mowers before I got the new one. I couldn't bring myself to put it at the curb and didn't want to sell it on CL. My dad and his neighbor stop by today and said "does Fred want any of this stuff". Well he thought I wanted to sell it and said NO just want to see it gone. After few minutes of loading it up I now got a empty outdoor cabinet.

Next one shouldn't be too hard.

I got old struts from wife's car, small air tank( future project ), transmission adapter for jack, I complete HF compressor motor pump assembly ( basically brand new ), and some weights.

The struts I change out from wife's car and new complete ones think are wrong spring rate and make front of car sit alittle high. My good friend has a professional shop strut machine. Its just a matter of having the time and energy to pull car in garage take new struts out, go to friends and swap springs out and reinstall new struts with original springs.

The tank is for air compressor project I always wanted to do. I got 3 compressors so why another. LOL. Well each serve a use but I was thinking of building one of these.

I got engine, pumps, plumbing and even a pilot valve to make it all work. I figure it can be fun project and deal with these extra pieces I got laying around.

Well, today is a great day. I'm out in garage about to do my Sunday duties on the yard and this truck pulls up with this big *** yellow toolbox in the back. Hmmmmm I didn't buy anything. The guy comes up to me and said I've been told to drop this off to you. I ask ok who told you and guy wouldn't tell me. Lifts it off his truck with his crane and we wheel it into my garage. I said thank you, offered him a drink which he accepted then he went upon his way.

Wow, its a nice cabinet.

I guess I'm gonna have to make room in m layout for this one. Thank you for whoever had this dropped off.

Looky there.... a little ray of storage sunshine! Nice cabinet! If that color clashes too much with your new HF cabinets I can come and help Shorty move it for you!

G,
You must be a great guy for someone to just show up and drop off a Snap On box like that. Or maybe he had the wrong address. :)

The Rustoleum is better match to my 44's but the Krylon Banner red dries quicker and better match to what Craftsman orginallly used. Overall the red isn't that important but the gray is.

I worked for Sears in one of their catalog call centers (remember catalogs?) in customer relations for a couple of years in the 80's. It was sort of a liaison between customers and manufacturers to resolve problems. IIRC, Waterloo was the box manufacturer at the time and the touchup color was a Krylon product. Sears sold it with their label on it in stores for about double or triple what you could buy it for at a hardware store. I used to have the numbers, but have looked through my notes and cannot find it. I suppose the colors have probably been through several modifications over the past 30 years. The hammered pewter was over and they were red cabinets with the blackish drawers. I do not remember ever being asked for the color of the drawers.

Funny but, some "other" member showed similar pictures in the Garage Sale thread and claimed he owns this and it was just being stored elsewhere until he could get it. But I recognized your garage in the background. I said that can't be???? It must be that Gerard found another good deal for himself.
I bet one of your very appreciative Florida group members just wanted to bless you with this nice Vidmar.
