Just taking care of the family, and working in the yard.. as well as working. Not alot cool to report with my projects. I'm hoping that's going to change this summer.

I hear you. Wait a few years. I probably look funny walking around in shorts and 5 inch steel toe boots, but my arches and heels do better and I haven't rolled an ankle too bad. I mow in steel toes since I saw a guy who slipped and ran his foot under a mower. He won't be wearing flip flops any time soon. Washed car in tennis shoes the other day and first pass with the hose and my socks were soaked. Stay safe my friend.

I have to differ with you. I have not seen any errors other than the normal ones we all make "daily". Your place always looks top shape and you are constantly on the move to improve everything in there.
The only people who don't make errors are the ones NOT doing anything!
It is great to see you on here, and I fully intend to take some time and catch up on your thread. I have been a little remiss on my posting lately, but busy does as busy is and I have been covered up with lots of "other" stuff. We all are.
Again great to see you, and I hope to stay up with your thread as much as I possibly can. I enjoy it a lot!!!

I saw this and it fits my Garage Life perfectly.
I love the sign... however, instead of having it as a sign.... I am thinking I should get that as a tattoo.... it fits my life so well!

You'll be fine Kenny, I wear 6" steel toe boots all the time with shorts. If I was in anything but my RedWings for 12 plus hours, I'd be crippled.

Thank You Herb. You always have such kind words and always enjoy your words of wisdom. I've spent a lot of countless hours making this place. I guess after all these years I finally found out what's gonna work for me and my garage going forward. As I look back even to my pre GJ days its seems I did a lot by trail and error. I've tried so many ideas over the years and seems like only until I found out that a new garage is in the future something clicked. The direction I had to go was so clear to the point that I think to myself "Why did it take so long for me to think this up"? Was all those years just a waste of time? In one way it's hard not to think that way but in the other all the roads you traveled have lead you to the point your at. It seems like taken so many steps forward in past few months than all the few of the years. I know that I'm really looking forward to working in the garage verse on the garage. As always thank you Herb for always being there on this journey I've been on.
As my Garage Life and Real life has evolved over the years I've always known who I am and where I stand. I've never considered myself in a class. I think you can be ******* if your low or high class. I've seen many people and friends pretend to be someone else and change themselves. Some today are so hypocritical in comparison its not even funny. There the ones that treated people like **** back in school days and now preach againist same thing they did back then. Now don't get me wrong because sometimes people where good and went down a wrong road and they need help to get back to who they "really" are. I always said that in everyone there is your true identity. You might pretend or act like someone else but at end of the day you are who you are. Good thing is at least you know who your dealing with and act appropriately depending on The situation at hand.
Well its been awhile and no I can't say I accomplished much in the garage lately. I did get the upper shelf secured and added a lower shelf just to keep some stuff off the bench.
The shop vac didn't make the cut either. In place I put my back up compressor.
For a vacuum I found this.
I was looking into building a dust deputy system but honestly took up to much space. Even my big shop vac took up to much space. I looked at Lowes and Home Depot far decent size vacuum and it was crazy money they where asking. One day at work I saw this tossed out. I brought it home and works fine (for garage use). I wouldn't use it inside.
The Shark vacuum is awesome and wife has the bigger version in house. Its all combined into small package.
Every 3 months wash the filter.
And has filter on exhaust too.
I did clean it all out but been using it after wash. Exhaust filter must have carbon filter.
Good hose length.
And if remove handle fits in corner of bench.
I'm thinking taking a page from GB and making French cleat system on back wall. When I do I'll hang it on wall.

Its 26 wide but 12 deep with metal sides but plastic bottom, top and doors. The place where pin style casters attach the plastic broke. I'm not sure its use just yet.

The above philosophy might be a good topic for an iced down barrel of Killian's. I can see after several cold ones it could get to lots of raised voices and hand waving. I like your outlook a lot!!!
Your scores are great. FREE is a purely MAGIC word in the garage fixing business. A HON filing cabinet is good quality, and the red cabinet rocks!

Today, my father and I hit a estate sale. I wasn't sure since it started Thursday what would be left over but figured be short morning out and some nice time with dad.
I ended up getting a lot more than I figured.
It was 50% off Saturday and they said build a pile. I sure did and when done asked how much for this and guy replied $15. Not pictured but included in price was a Dremel tool, 2 8" diamonds adjustable wrenchs and a water meter T wrench.
After that we hit breakfast at local place and drove home. Its was good morning with dad and got some goodies is just a plus.

LOL, I think that topic could get alittle heated. Some people are just genuine people while others you always have to second guess. I might keep a small a lot of people in my circle but those people I don't ever have to worry about. I even trust them enough that given them code to get in my garage. No problem go in use bathroom, have a beer, and spend time with my dog Sammy. I never have to worry about anything with them besides the treasure hunt to find the beer caps. LOL.
Free is always good in my book. I just hate to see good stuff end up in landfill. If I can't use it I usually find it a home with someone I know. Some will throw it on Craigslist to make money. Sometimes I shot myself in the foot with bringing stuff home. I have no room for it but somehow it ends up in my garage. I can always choose not to paid money for something but come on ITS FREE. LOL.

You'll love the French cleat. It's very versatile. Hardest part is making the hangers etc to suit what you want to hang.

Congrats on the estate sale scores. I have lucked in on a few things like that over the years. Someone else's "junk" is just fine for me. Probably my best score was at a yardsale that I stopped at when I missed a turn a few years ago where I picked up a $95 Leatherman that the lady told me was missing some tools. It has a rubber strip that holds about 5 1/4" driver bits and an accessory driver. It was missing a #2 Phillips bit. I couldn't rip a $5 out of my pocket fast enough.

Thanks GB, your right on French cleat. I think I'll love the fact easy moving of items. The problem lines with the items and what items I'm gonna hang up. I've seen many ways to make the cleat part but the actually attaching part going to be issue. Its something to play around with for sure.

You did find some nice items this week. Many that look to be useful in your garage and like you said, the others can be passed on or sold if they don't fit. I could not have passed up the free tool cart either. Just getting the time out together with dad was probably the best part of the day.

Thanks man. I see a lot of good deals from time to time. I been good not bringing items I don't need in but sometimes can't help myself. Past few times I've been on vacation it seems that there never a great estate sales around but when I'm not off work they always seem to pop up. It figures but me and my dad are pretty stocked up on stuff. Not much we need but it's always good around. LOL.

I try to be discriminating. Yard sales have to look like tools or parts before I will stop. If I lived near you I would probably have to avoid going to Webster quite a bit or at least leave my cash in the truck if I did. I have a few things and brands I keep my eyes open for.

I'm the same way. I can always make room from another vise if it's a Prentiss or a Reed. If can get 2 of such item like the blue drawers from this weekend I'll usually pick items like that up. I big fan of symmetry. Its probably the OCD in me but things have to look symmetrical or uniform.

Well I lost the file cabinet already. Just no room for it... AT THE MOMENT!!! LOL The wife is going to use it in her office in for time being. Her bins she was using where plastic and not holding up so this will work well for her needs. Moving and desk idea is at next house so when that time comes I'll get it back.

Actually, if I had the WOC at my place I would insist on all my OCD tendencies. Funny because I was talking with Brent on his thread and about people with OCD issues and him not clocking screw heads and so forth. I said that I might want things a certain way in my place but in your place your garage your rules. LOL. Actually, the best garage I ever seen in person would give a person with OCD a headache in 30 seconds. See I really like old shops with all the character but I always seem to set up my place different.
