That's the idea. I wanted the old building to almost seem as if it was a modern lean too on old galvanized barn. Lots of details yet to do to pull off that look.

If I could have afforded it, I would have gone even taller and bigger with the new building... But I think the proportions are gonna work.

So long as I have a small Ford parked in the perpendicular bays, the office bay door is totally accessible. If I have a bigger car in one of those spots, it will have to be moved back a bit to access the office bay.

Quick update... The exterior is close to done. I still have to do gutters on the old building and then some paint work on the new. The roll up bay doors will be bright white to match the old building and the carriage doors.

Once these details are handled, I will move on to the interior. Still making some major decisions such as floors, drywall or possibly wood slat walls...

I'm also thinking about lettering the front of the shop for fun and effect... Photoshop attached.

WOW! That is one great building. I also like very much the other building where you have the office and other things. Thanks for posting the inside of it. That additional shop should give you all kinds of room to do whatever you plan for. I especially like the design of the building with all the space in the roof line. You will be able to have whatever kind of lift in it you wish. Congratulations on such a fine building, and I will be very interested in seeing how you finish out the inside!!

Yes, put signage up on it. I don't know what the Atomic logo is but I'd reduce the size to the width of the door and mount it on a sign board, not directly on the siding. Or do some kind of stand off metal letters.

I don't have any immediate plans for climate control. I might eventually do a window unit for the miserable summer days... But we don't have much need for heaters here in Austin. Of course... ironically, it's 28-degrees and snowing here today!

Great looking building so far. It's giving me inspiration for my own plans…..as I stare out at 3-4 feet of snow waiting to melt. Looking forward to following your completion of this building. And…the lettering is the perfect way to compliment the look of this building.

Not a lot to update... The exterior is pretty much done and now I'm taking some time off to let the pocket book catch up. I did however, gets the beams in so that I can eventually build the loft.

Oh, and I got my car out of my office and into the shop.

It's been a long road... but the exterior of the building is FINALLY done after lots of problems with the contractor. Even better, a sign painting buddy of mine from California (Sign Source) and I were able to paint the sign as I had photoshopped earlier. Attached is a sneak peak via crappy iPhone pic... I'll do a full write up later this week.

I'm SUPER happy with it.

The sign came out great and is certainly worth the effort. in your photo gallery some shots looked almost 3D with the drop shadow and the corrugation.

I built the car when I was 19 years old... almost 20 years ago... No thread... But once the shop is done, I'll be rebuilding it on jalopyjournal.com.

In any case, here's an update on the shop.

Due to lots of construction delays, the timing worked out so that I could use a flush mount lift that Benpak is getting ready to release. So, we've been cutting up the slab this week!

Whatever Bendpak is up to it sounds pretty good. I've seen the low rise flush lift but I presume you're getting something better?
