Installed an X-Y gantry hoist in the last couple of days. The cabinets I'm building for the daughter and SIL will be heavy. I wanted a way to get them from the assembly table to the floor or to the truck for delivery without stressing my back. Some Unistrut and trollies' and here we are...

The trusses the unistrut is attached to are attic storage trusses, designed for extra load. I'll likely never lift anything more than 250 lbs and feel safe with this solution. For others viewing this, please do your own evaluation before following my path. Each situation is unique and I would in no way endorse others do the same as I have here.

Todays work in the shop; cutting hard maple stock for cabinet rails and stiles. The new sliding table saw made this a pleasure to do. I used the sliding table to get straight line rips and a couple of jigs to rip 2-1/16" wide stock. A couple of passes (three boards at a time) thru the planer on edge and they are exactly 2.00" wide, a couple of more passes thru the planer and they are .750 - .753 thick. I should have taken a video of the rip process. I'll have more to to do next week, may take video then.

Some of these have nice figure, seems a shame to paint them, but...

Face frame and cabinet assembly begins tomorrow!

I've been working on the cabinets for the daughter and son in law's kitchen for the last week or so. I made a small video to show how quickly one can make the mortices for face frame assembly with a Festool Domino. The vacuum hold down fixtures greatly expedited this process. The Domino is not inexpensive, but it is remarkable how fast you can assemble case goods with one. I'm still learning its capabilities.

Oh, BTW, I'M loving the sliding table saw more every day!
