I've never won a trophy for any car related thing (& I don't intend to either )
.............though I did sponsor best post '48 commercial at the Golburn Nats

te Hee :bounce:
I would never hear the end of it, if YOU won a trophy that "I" had to pay for :(
I was supposed to have sponsored the "pre '48" class that year (like what I work on) but there was a stuff up & they gave that to someone else.
Funny, they didn't ask me again this year :headscrat must have been the serve I gave them when I heard nothing back once they got my cheque :dunno: I had to find out from a mate who won another trophy, who had actually won the one I sponsored (typical ASRF :wtf::mad:)

Don't worry, I won't be sponsoring another "post '48" one

Same reason I gave up having a trade stand at the Nationals.

I believe similar reasons with communications have happened stalling the AAAA Street Rod Alliance and why it has fallen off the topic. I may know more on that this week.

As for Bendigo it will be Friday night only Rod as I have commitments in Melbourne on Sunday. I will not be at the Swap.

Oh Well,
I may see you on Friday night then
(a mate fron Portland is going to pick me up at the back gate from the swap so I can get down the street.......same as last year....other wise I would miss out on that too)

The Truck show went off well. No photos as yet as I have been away after the show on business. Plenty of lookers and no trophies due to the fact I was put in CLASSIC class meaning I had to compete with fully restored B Model Macks etc. Only a few would be what you called modified like mine.
Will post some photos later.

On a sad note the GPS is now the only navigator for events I attend.:(

Just another truck :wtf:
Dunno what's it doing on the Hamb :headscrat
(I thought the hamb was a Hot Rod forum :wtf::wtf::wtf::wtf: well........that's why I joined up :shocking::shocking:)
Shouldn't it be on a TRUCK forum :dunno::dunno:

Sorry to jump in here - and I know you guys are having a fun conversation....but where is the DEFINITION of "HotRod" stated??:wtf: I HATE that some guys say this or that project shouldn't be on the HAMB because it's not a HR....what iis a HotRod??:headscrat It's anything you modify. It's anything you want it to be. It doesn't necessarily need to be a '32 Ford does it?? That'd be pretty boring!!

The HAMB is a very traditional place in the respect it's members like to see things done the old school way. Old school is the traditional type 32 or similar.
You only have to look at the two topics below to see how many are accepted or not.

Better explain that in Oz, Hot Rods/Street Rods are defined as pre 1948, not just anything that is modified, so a huge difference.
I am a Rodder, I drive my Rod every day, build Rods, sleep Rods & fart Rods, so to confuse anything other than a Rod, as a Rod, is just right (just as a Truck is a Truck)
Now don't get me wrong, I like most anything with wheels, but a Truck with Truck drive train...........is a Truck! If it was car/pickup based & pre '48 then it would fit into the Rod class here. It's all what we call them.
After '48, we get custom classic, Street machines etc (but of course a Mustang in the States is still called a Hot Rod, but just not here)

So a 4 tonne truck is not a truck ?????????????
I bet you need a truck licence to drive it !! 9or have you somehow wangled something there too?

Simon, I'm under 'Rods & Relics' on the Hamb, as someone had already taken Rocket :(

Just admit it Rod you can not accept Guys like to Hot Rod Trucks. Just like some guys do not accept Customs or the Pro Street styles of Rods. You will have to face it one day as the new emerging style of Modified Truck Rods just like the Ramp Rods that are trucks to carry Rods and I see on the HAMB motor home Hot Rods :) like your mate Tony in Nurioopta :)

Searched for 'Rods & Relics' on the HAMB with no luck :headscrat

It all so seems that they take offense to the term rat rod over there as well.
Funny, because half the cars that were at the Austin event recently [ can not remember the name of it ] were exactly what i consider to be rat rods. Did they not accept hotfr8 over at the hamb with open arms.
Tragically hip Austinites.

Rat Rods ar OK here as long as they are mechanically sound and roadworthy. As for the HAMB and Diesel the two terms do not mix as Diesel is not considered traditional enough.

Still no word from your mate at Diesel Power :headscrat he wants Unique pictures :headscrat

Pity about Rockets narrow vision and the new area of Hot Rodded Trucks as we have seen Resto Rods, Pro Street Rods, Rat Rods and one of the last areas now opening up is the Trucks as everyone in the past did not consider them worth while and old truck often sits on farms and workshop yards untouched. Now they are popular and those with the BIG trucks have BIG dollars to spend. Even in the Restoration area of Trucks I am seeing a new trend as those tinkering with trucks are not afraid to spend money on parts or tools.

Just shows as usual with me I an ahead of the NEW trend with my F4 Freighter. :)

I have given up waiting to run out of LPG (Propane) so yesterday went and filled the Diesel tanks and the LPG tank. The LPG tank is rated at about 60 Litres and took 36.50 Litres of LPG. The Diesel tanks hold about 95 to 100 Litres roughly as I never fill them completely. From this I have calculated the truck uses about 12.55 Litres Diesel per 100k's and about 3.03 Litres of LPG per 100k's. A lot of that has been highway driving and some of it with a trailer.

I used an online calculator to work this out > http://opentoronto.com/calculators/...00_km_fuel_efficiency_consumption_economy.php

1203 Kilometers traveled 187.20 Litres of Diesel used and 36.50 Litres of LPG used. Give or take a litre here or there. If my figures are correct I think that is pretty good for a vehicle with a tare weight of 2800kg.

Also coming up now 'The Beast' will be on a biscuit tin some time in the new year and these tins are fast becoming collectors items as so many now are being produced with Hot Rods on them. Truckin Life magazine feature and Diesel Power magazine feature.

Cummins Engines here are not like in the USA as we do not have the Dodge Rams etc. like you do in the USA. Anything bigger than the 6BT you will find in the bigger Road Transports etc. and industrial applications. The 6BT is found mostly in Industrial applications like Irrigation pumps etc. and mine was converted from Industrial to Automotive specifications.

4BT's are like Hens teeth here to find but the 6BT can be found in Buses and Machinery etc.

It looks a big truck when a Hot Rod event and when at a Truck show it looks very small. Sure gets a lot of comments when stopped and thumbs up a lot when out on the road.

Waiting for Photographers can be disapointing. I am tired of waiting on Truckin Life magazine  as they have arranged to send a photographer that never turns up and have done this to me a couple of times.

In the mean time I have had a photographer from Big Rigs call and take some photos :rocker: so that will happen very soon.

Diesel Power magazine also tell me March or April Issue and I think a Blue Dog may have been pushing that connection.

I believe Editor David handed it over to Sub Editor Jason to deal with. Now Jason wants David to supply an Air ticket to come and visit Australia ........:lol_hitti

The photos of the '6BT Crate Engine' created a stir.:D As I keep getting told the USA do not see 'Cummins Crate Engines.' :dunno:

For those that have been asking to see it in motion.

Here is a couple of links to You Tube and early in you can see the F4 cruisin >
and power parked in the 2nd >
. These have been taken by some one else recently at the Street Rod Nationals held in Geelong over the Easter Holiday.
