Torque. The Diesel creates to much Torque even though we have a vacc pump fitted the shifts would be very hard on the auto and the best way to fix this will be a full manual kit  Not even going to bother with a kick down linkage as it may over rev the Diesel.

The only reason I did not fit a manual gearbox was the fact I could not find a box suitable to manage all that torque. An Auto will manage this much better.
In fact the C6 is still used more behind Diesels than any other box.

I have not fitted a kick down. Wondering now if I should :headscrat I feel it will not be needed with a manual shift kit. Working on the idea that Peak Torque is about 2000 /2500 RPM so cruising speed should be 100 KMH (or 60 MPH) and well with in that RPM range.

Not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for. Scroll about halfway down the page. Never dealt with them personally so I can't comment on how reputable they are.

Thank you, Looks like it. I have a few places to follow up now.

Just double checked a few things and by fitting the manual valve shift kit the kick down becomes redundent. This should save the problem of the auto trying to make the engine rev harder if the kick down was in place.

Not easy to find a manual valve kit for a C6 Auto at present in Australia or the US.

You could just send me the information so I can contact them.

Have tried most of my contacts and those given to me without much success. As I stated it appears no one in Australia has what I need.

Your right mate (just stirring the pot as usual :lol_hitti:lol_hitti)

I'll try to remember to ring him and see what he says, though you may well be right.
I just thought of another possible contact.
he's an ex drag racer (funny he used to crew at Willowbank when I used to be there :headscrat) anyway, he has been calling in a bit (also a mate ofthe owner of Rockets.....another ex drag racer :wtf:) so you never know.

The body & paint shop I am using specialise in Mack Truck Restoration so on his advise I am now adding a lot of metal nut covers to any visible bolt on the truck similar to these
chrome_plastic_lug_nut_covers.gif

just to give it some more bling.

Back to the start with these as when they arrived thay are all PLASTIC and did not fit. Not like the metal sample ones they supplied to me.:(

On a good note I should have the transmission sorted soon :)

Auto transmission will go back together in the next few days.:bounce::)
Still trying to sort out the Bolt Nut covers and have found a new supplier that will provide metal covers. Still, will wait to see what I see as samples.

I am keen to finish it but annoyed with delays.

August 1st, valve body is back in and the F4 has been for a test drive. A few little problems to fix but otherwise I am very happy how it has all come together.:) I have 14.6 Km's on the speedo now.:)

Perhaps now the topic heading should be
'The BEAST Moves.' :thumbup::lol_hitti

Yes, Almost, but I will not make it to you. I have to get the compliance plate fitted and have to go to Dimboola for that.

The trip was to the next town and back about 9 miles. :rocker: As the mate who went with me said it was a credit to my build work. I also see it as a credit to those who have helped me build it.

Just little jobs to fix.

An injector is leaking, Glove box lid needs to have a catch :)headscrat Ideas welcome) as I had a magnet but it did not work, Excelerator linkage needs some work to adjust, Bonnet is touching in places that it should not and the steering wheel needs adjusting. All small items to be fixed before I travel to far.

Signwriting will be next. Photos will follow.

She is an eye catcher and will be a road runner, too. Great ad for you.:)

If you ever bring her to the States she would be most welcomed at any Truck Show.:D

A toast from all your friends over here to a mighty fine group of "mates" that really helped make this happen.

So is she going ok now Simon??
(I'm sure the sign writting has helped :lol_hitti:lol_hitti:lol_hitti)

I have about 50k's on it now and have had to drive it to most places to finish some work. LPG Compliance and Gas the Air Con, Engineer and Roadworthy is all to be done now.

What's an esky doing parked in your drive way?? (spose it is a Ford!)

That is my Mums car formerly my Grandmothers Car and came from my Uncles Ford Dealership many years ago. Recently had it valued as it is in such good order and was surprised to find out it is worth more than market value as it is in such good order. May just be the next project as little work would bring it back to pristine condition.

Whats wrong with a Esky ? I used to Rally a MK1 and a Couple of Mk2`s years ago great little cars :bounce:

The ****** is a great little car. If I had my way i would use the running gear for an A Roadster as a sleeper. A great rally car.

This one could be my next project as a restoration. Only needs minor work.

F4 is waiting for the Engineer to finish but before I do that I have to get the LPG Compliance plate fitted and the Air Con finished and Gassed.

Roadworthy and Rego to follow.

SEE, I knew you should have put larger tanks on ( I could have got you a couple too :wtf:)

No need for larger tanks just the fact I have to buy Bio Diesel in Bulk and need a place to keep it / store it and a way to get it, so that is the thinking behind the trailer also the fact I can not buy Bio Diesel locally.

Trip to Kyneton and back today went well. I have to go back next week for the LPG compliance plate due to a mix up with the paperwork.

The F4 cruised well at Highway speeds.

I am still working my way towards registration with an Engineer. All looks good at the present.
Truck made its DEBUT over the weekend here at the Castlemaine Rod Run - 75 Years of the 1933 / 34 Ford. I had the 1923 T Roadster at the Show & Shine then late in the morning took it home and came back in the F4.
