THE BEST hand degreaser?

When or where did they take tecnu off the market. I just looked online and it is still for sale. I haven't had poison ivy in a while but if I get it Tecnu is what I reach for. When I was a kid my parents always used Fels-Naphta soap and it seemed to work OK.

I recently found out about a product called IvyX. You put it on before contact to keep from getting it. I never tried it but I know others who like it.

My favorites are Big Industrial Hand Wipes. They were available at AutoZone, but they discontinued them and they're now carried at Sears. I've got real sensitive skin so GoJo, Zep, etc. don't work well for me. The Big Industrials get the grease off, but without the harshness. And I tend to end up with cuts & scrapes on my hands, and they don't burn one bit.

*When they were discontinued @ AutoZone, I e-mailed the company in Turkey (yes, as in the country) and they actually e-mailed me back with the addresses of the nearest Sears stores that carried them! That's how customer service should work.

Another vote for Kresto. Started on it at work, then they changed. Buuuut, they started carrying it at the welding supply (airgas) by the house and I got a pump jug. Everyone that uses it says it's awesome. Used to get Sericol hand cleaner for ink, that stuff was good too. Green zep at work now and it's pretty good too.

I almost forgot. I do have some fast orange but it seems to **** *** for heavy grease. I usually take a pump or two of fast orange and then just a dab of Dawn dish soap. The combo works very well.

And the craziest thing I have used is is Crisco cooking grease.

How did that work? Years ago I worked with someone who's father was a mechanic and was having skin problems. His doctor told him to use Crisco. IIRC, the coworker said it worked good.

Oh, for the best stuff, it's the stuff we had at Sears.

It was just labeled "hand cleaner" and it worked better than washing your hands in gas, but smelled good and didn't crack my skin all to hell.

I don't know how you guys have remotely clean hands just using dish soap. I would need a nylon brush and a big jug of Dawn to get my hands remotely clean.

I usually do a quick clean in the garage, no hot water. Once I get inside the house and have hot water, it makes a difference. I have a scrub brush inside the house too.

Alot of it depends on how dry and cracked your hands are. The dry cracked hands seem to hold more grime and are harder to get clean.

I got a bottle of Technu about a month ago at Walgreens. I believed it had a "if found at any other outlet than walgreens, please call XXXXXX" sticker on it.
My friend and I were disc golfing and we knew there was poison ivy. I went home and used it, he did not. Guess which one got it.

I currently use Zep Cherry Bomb but am almost out I think I am going to try TKO next time. I might call Zep and see if they will allow me to combine diffrent types to make a case so I can try the diffrent ones they offer. I do use latex gloves now only took 3 years as a mechanic to figure that one out. When I remember I use hand lotion before working I have very dry skin and it makes a huge diffrence when it comes to getting the grease off my arms.

The best hand cleaner I have ever used was one called grease buster. I have not scene it around in a while. I had a auto dealer mechanic friend that bought it by the drum and would pump me out some on occasion. A company somewhere in mid Georgia made it, called nitro industries?, nitrex chemical, nytrex industries, something like that ???

If anyone know anything about it, please pass it back to me. Cleaned, grease, paint, whatever that was on you hand with ease. No brushing. Thanks.

Go-jo, swarfega, and simple green.... If in the field and got oily hands etc just grab a small handfull of dirt and pour a little water and turn it in2 a muddy paste and rub like u do normally then rinse... U may need to repeat but it seems to abrade **** from hands preety good.

I just wash up in the solvent tank and then use Napa brand stuff or just plain soap. Dawn works good and always have it in the shop because it is the best lube for the o rings when putting liners in a diesel engine.

Well I'v been using Amway LOC for near on 20 years now.
I rub it in before I start work then just rinse off when finished.
It is a coconut based oil and no petroleum based **** in it.

For bar soaps I like the Fast Orange and Lava which is getting harder to find. +1 on a "barrier" lotion or creme prior to the dirty job. YMMV.

I had to change a tire at work the other day and got my hands dirty with brake dust and road grime. I work in an office, so filthy hands doesn't fly.

I've never had much luck with dish soap alone, so I went into the break room and used a bit of dish soap along with a couple tablespoons of sugar from the coffee bar. Worked a treat!

Wow, no mention of D&L or DL by Permatex. For me it is the best waterless hand cleaner. I've tried all of the others, none works as well as D&L for me. Kresto is great stuff too, but you need water for it and it is very expensive.

For waterless stuff I would AVOID the Castrol Superclean Waterless hand cleaner. It gets the grease off, but leaves little bits of rolled up ick that is tough to get rid of. Especially if you have any hair on your hands. It just wraps itself around the hair and is tougher than gum to remove.

I typically have great luck with plain ole Dawn Dishwashing soap. I've also used Bon-Ami when I felt the need for a gritty cleanser. A trick I've learned over the years was to use a small amount of skin lotion on your hands before you begin to work on the greasy stuff. Rub it in well and it seems to help keep the grease out of your pores when you're working on it.

Gojo supromax with the green ink on the box is pretty good stuff. They make a cherry one with red ink on the box and it *****. Anco wiper blade company used to make a powered hand cleaner that was probably the best thing I ever used. Anybody here remember that stuff?

Green worx think i bought from snappy it's dry with the consistency of brown sugar about a 1/2 teaspoon will clean your hands nice.

I also like Boraxo in the can, sort of looks like a container of cleanser. Seems like not all stores carry it. It also gets the grime out from under the nails. Good stuff, try it............

I use Boraxo regularly at work and it gets all the grease and stains out of the hands. GoJo and Goop has petroleum distillates in them and seems to dry my hands out to where I get splits around my fingernails. Hurt like hell when you snag on putting your hands in your pocket. Boraxo has never done that.
At home, I have a couple of cans of Bear Paw, that someone one here was selling on time. It's a little gritty, smells good, and takes all the grease out. http://www.bearpawhandcleaner.com/ I like it and need to get some more. It seems a little expensive but doesn't take much and works well.

If you can't stand to wear gloves (and I can't) you can rub you hands with liquid soap and let it dry on your skin before you start work. I found that it keeps the oil, grease crude etc. from getting to the skin and makes it a whole lot easier to wash off.

If your hands are really greasy, just plain clean motor oil will work wonders.
Work it in wipe it off and then use a hand cleaner.

I can't believe no one remembers"Vibra-Clean", esp. people from the midwest and the railroads.
